ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Eleven pieces in which the great Argentinian writer reflects on the world, his narrative, and those who have known how to portray him better. "The writer and the reader, one could say, end up fused in the essayist, with the sparkling wit and the spontaneous elegance that overlap the effort in the best pieces of the genre, and pulse every so often through the whimsical digressions of his fictions." --Gabriela Speranza, Otra Parte Inspired by the methodology of "absolute attention" by Krishnamurti--whom reality left ecstatic every afternoon--C sar Aira appeals to overcoming the urbanite's blindness who, having no time for anything, is incapable of being late to observe the wonders of the world. Essential author, in these eleven lectures and talks, Aira reveals the delicate mechanisms of the literary artifice, incites us to imagine Buenos Aires emptied of everything except trees, or to revisit a poetic of lines among Duchamps' notes for "The Bride Stripped Bare by her Bachelors," the maniac-calligraphic project by Levrero, or the unintelligible handwriting that Benjamin believed implied a refined thought... Aira's brazen and exceptional intelligence turns these essays into pure joy and pure play. A shock to any habit that threatens to numb sensibilities or prevent surprises.
