ENGLISH DESCRIPTION "Ideas on the art of relating a time that Carlos Fuentes coined and cultivated throughout his fructiferous creative career converge in Birthday. Also there, unpolished or in full bloom, we see his techniques, or rather, the technique. The hows and the whys, the modus operandi of Fuentes' crime." --Ignacio Padilla Published in 1969, Birthday is a novella by Carlos Fuentes that reflects--the same way Aura did previously--the literary tendencies in Latin America at that time. A novel about subjectivity. A room is also a house, a city, a world. There, an old man, a woman, and a child form a Trinity in the depths of an instant. Time is the real narrative space in this novel. Its tale was not, is not, and will not be, for it is being incarnate in interchangeable identities, since continuity is resurrection.
