Egyptian Tales and Romances: Pagan, Christian and Muslim is a book written by E. A. Wallis Budge, a renowned British Egyptologist. The book is a collection of stories and tales from ancient Egypt, spanning different periods of Egyptian history and ranging from pagan, Christian, and Muslim traditions. The book is divided into several sections, each focusing on a particular theme or period. Some of the stories in the book are based on ancient Egyptian myths and legends, while others are historical accounts of famous figures and events. The first section of the book covers the pagan period of Egyptian history, with stories about the gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt. These tales include the creation myth of the god Atum, the story of the goddess Isis and her search for the body of her husband Osiris, and the legend of the god Horus and his battle against the evil god Seth. The second section of the book focuses on the Christian period of Egyptian history, with stories about the early Christian saints and martyrs who lived in Egypt. These tales include the story of Saint Anthony, who lived as a hermit in the desert, and the story of Saint George, who battled a dragon to save a princess. The final section of the book covers the Muslim period of Egyptian history, with stories about the Islamic conquest of Egypt and the rise of the Muslim rulers. These tales include the story of the Muslim general Amr ibn al-As, who led the conquest of Egypt in the 7th century, and the story of the Muslim ruler Saladin, who defeated the Crusaders in the 12th century. Overall, Egyptian Tales and Romances: Pagan, Christian and Muslim is a fascinating collection of stories that provides a glimpse into the rich and diverse history of Egypt.
