J. B.: A Play in Verse – hinnat ja saatavuus

J. B.: A Play In Verse is a dramatic work written by the American poet and playwright, Archibald MacLeish. First published in 1958, the play is a modern retelling of the biblical story of Job. The play is written entirely in verse, and its characters are modern-day equivalents of the biblical figures. The central character, J. B., is a wealthy businessman who is suddenly struck by a series of tragedies that leave him destitute and questioning the existence of God. His wife, Sarah, is also affected by the tragedies and becomes increasingly disillusioned with J. B.'s refusal to curse God and die. Throughout the play, J. B. engages in a philosophical debate with his friends and acquaintances, who represent various religious and philosophical viewpoints. Ultimately, J. B. is visited by God, who challenges him to a final test of faith. MacLeish's play is a powerful exploration of the human condition, faith, and the nature of God. It is a thought-provoking work that challenges readers to consider the timeless questions of suffering, morality, and the meaning of life.
