Peveril of the Peak: The Works of Sir Walter Scott – hinnat ja saatavuus

Peveril of the Peak is a novel written by Sir Walter Scott, published in 1823. The story takes place in 17th century England, during the reign of King Charles II. The main character, Julian Peveril, is a young man who becomes embroiled in a web of political intrigue and personal vendettas. His father, Sir Geoffrey Peveril, is a loyal supporter of the king, but Julian finds himself torn between his loyalty to his father and his sympathy for the rebels who oppose the king's policies. The novel is set against the backdrop of the Popish Plot, a real-life conspiracy that rocked England in the late 17th century. The plot involved a supposed Catholic conspiracy to assassinate the king and replace him with his Catholic brother, James, Duke of York. The plot was largely fabricated, but it led to a wave of anti-Catholic hysteria and the persecution of many innocent people. Peveril of the Peak is a complex and multi-layered novel that explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, love, and political intrigue. It is also a vivid portrait of 17th century England, with its colorful characters, turbulent politics, and dramatic events. Sir Walter Scott was a master storyteller, and this novel is one of his finest works. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1905 Edition.
