The Dutch and Swedes on the Delaware, 1609-1664 – hinnat ja saatavuus

The Dutch And Swedes On The Delaware, 1609-1664 is a historical account of the early colonization of the Delaware River Valley by the Dutch and Swedes. Written by Christopher Longstreth Ward, the book explores the political, economic, and social aspects of the Dutch and Swedish settlements in the region, as well as their interactions with the native Lenape people. The book begins with an overview of the early exploration of the Delaware River by European explorers, including Henry Hudson and Samuel Champlain. Ward then delves into the establishment of the Dutch West India Company's colony of New Netherland in the region, and the subsequent founding of the Swedish colony of New Sweden. Ward examines the various conflicts and alliances between the Dutch, Swedes, and Lenape people during this period, including the famous battles of Fort Nassau and Fort Christina. He also explores the economic and social structures of the colonies, including the role of the fur trade and the development of slavery in the region. Throughout the book, Ward emphasizes the complex and often contradictory nature of the relationships between the Dutch, Swedes, and Lenape people, and provides a nuanced and detailed account of this crucial period in early American history.
