As of 1 January 2025, CE marking will no longer be recognised in Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) for new products. Products introduced into this market must bear the UKCA marking (or UKNI marking) and comply with UK regulations. Transition periods have expired, and dual certification is required if a product is to be sold in both the EU and the UK. Exceptions apply only to existing products and Northern Ireland. This book sheds light on the introduction of the UKCA/UKNI marking as a result of Brexit, explains the background to this regulatory separation from CE marking and analyses the far-reaching consequences for companies, consumers and international trade relations. It also provides an overview of the certified service providers and conformity assessment bodies and describes where the assessment criteria already diverge today.
