Petites Étoiles uses rhymes, songs, and play-based activities linked to 18 popular topics to introduce children in reception and Key Stage 1 to French. The clear, easy-to-use lessons plans and free, downloadable resources will integrate easily with your schemes of work. Each unit in Petites Étoiles focuses on a rhyme or song and contains sufficient activities for at least half a term. The free downloads contain audio recordings of the songs, video clips to aid pronunciation of key sounds, as well as a huge bank of reproducible resources, and much more. The spontaneity and lack of inhibition of early years and KS1 children make them exceptionally receptive to learning a foreign language. Petites Étoiles capitalizes on this, providing a wealth of practical, play-oriented activities, ranging from role-play and miming to phonics games and mask making. Cross-curricular links, extensions for older or more able children, and opportunities for developing intercultural understanding make this a truly outstanding resource.
