An official sequel to the cult classic film The Dark Crystal and the bestselling comic series The Power of the Dark Crystal. With the Crystal healed and the Skeksis banished, Kensho and Thurma return to their separate worlds to enjoy the peace they fought so hard to ensure. But when Kensho arrives at the Crystal Castle, the Gelfling look to him to take the place of Jen and Kira as leader of Thra. Unsure if he, or anyone, is fit to rule, Kensho sets out into the wild to rectify the sins of the past and better understand the world he saved. Meanwhile, Thurma strives to rebuild the realm of Mithra as the newly-crowned Ember Queen. But her own quest to decide the future of her land is thrown into question when a Fireling from a noble bloodline makes a claim as the true heir to the throne. Written by Adam Smith (Long Walk to Valhalla) and gorgeously illustrated by Alexandria Huntington, Beneath the Dark Crystal Volume One dives deep into the worlds of the Gelfling and Firelings and examines the burden of responsibility that comes with heroism.

Written in 1759 by Scottish philosopher and political economist Adam Smith, "The Theory of Moral Sentiments" provides much of the foundation for the ideas in his later works, most notably in "The Wealth of Nations." Through this initial text, Smith expresses his general system of morals, exploring the propriety of action, reward and punishment, sense of duty, and the effect of numerous factors on moral sentiment. In so doing, Smith devised innovative theories on virtues, conscience, and moral judgment that are still relevant and accessible today. Though somewhat surprising to find a philosopher of Smith's abilities discussing aspects such as luck and sympathy and how they affect self-image or relationships, "The Theory of Moral Sentiments" never loses its critical excellence in its good-natured understanding of the human exploration for the meaning of being good. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper.

The Theory of Moral Sentiments
Adam Smith's theory on morals provides the philosophical bedrock for his future works on economics, including his most famous book The Wealth of Nations. Published in 1759, this work sees Smith follow the lead of his tutor and mentor Francis Hutcheson. He divides his ethical examinations into four broad categories: ethics and virtue; private rights and natural liberties; rights of the family; and state and individual rights. Although lesser known compared to Adam Smith's later works, The Theory of Moral Sentiments is an influential work of philosophy in its own right, with the greatest effect being upon its author.

The Theory of Moral Sentiments
In his first important work, economist Adam Smith concentrates on ethics and charity. The Theory of Moral Sentiments divides moral philosophy into four parts: Ethics and Virtue; Private rights and Natural liberty; Familial rights ('Economics'); and State and Individual rights ('Politics'). Smith establishes the intellectual framework for all of his later work, including The Wealth of Nations.
