Power Converters for Photovoltaic Power Systems: Control, Fault Diagnosis, and Reliability Analysis guides readers through the latest technologies and applications of advanced converters for the renewable-integrated energy systems of the future. The book begins with an introduction to the design principles of converters for PV applications and grid synchronization techniques before breaking down complex control strategies for PV systems, including the injection of active and reactive power in solar inverters. Fault detection, analysis, and localization are covered in detail, as are failure modes, risk indices, criticality analysis, and more advanced condition monitoring techniques. Additional chapters cover optimizing thermal management to ensure efficient operation and reliability of photovoltaic systems, and thermal control methods for reliable operation and longevity of power electronic converters. Finally, guidance is provided on Digital Twin Integration for condition monitoring of photovoltaic-integrated energy systems.

Thorough review of how artificial intelligence can enhance the design, control, and optimization of power electronics systems Artificial Intelligence for Power Electronics provides a comprehensive overview of the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and the field of power electronics, exploring how AI can revolutionize and enhance the design, control, and optimization of power electronics systems. The book covers the fundamentals of AI, the fundamentals of power electronics and the challenges the field faces in design to production, and the solutions of these challenges through AI methods. Example solutions, along with Q&A review sections, are included throughout the text, with coverage of both Python and MATLAB. Some of the topics discussed in Artificial Intelligence for Power Electronics include: Supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement machine learning and the role of data in training machine learning modelsTechniques for AI data collection in power electronics and how to clean, normalize, and handle missing values of dataOptimization techniques such as Particle Swarm Optimization and Ant Colony OptimizationDetection techniques for identifying faults and anomalies and clustering algorithms to group similar operational behaviorEssential Python libraries for machine learning and how to perform machine learning on a Raspberry Pi Delivering an industry-specific approach to AI applications, Artificial Intelligence for Power Electronics is a helpful reference for undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students in electrical, electronic, and computer engineering. Mechanical engineers and other industry professionals may also find it valuable.

The current model for electricity generation and distribution is dominated by centralized power plants which are typically associated with combustion (coal, oil, and natural gas) or nuclear generation units. These power models require distribution from the center to outlying consumers and have many disadvantages concerning the electric utilities, transmission and distribution, and greenhouse gas emissions. This resulted in the modelling and development of cleaner renewable power generation with alternative sources such as photovoltaic (PV), wind, and other sources. Further, due to matured PV technology, constant drop-in installation cost, greenhouse emissions reductions, energy efficiency, reduced transmission and distribution investments, minimization of electric losses, and network support, the development of PV systems is proliferating. In view of this development, this book provides an idea for setting up the PV plant from initial study of the site to plan sizing. Once the first planning is covered, the book focuses on the modeling aspects of power electronics converter and control elements associated with it keeping the operating standards specified for the development of distributed generation systems in check. This book will be useful for industrial professionals and researchers who are working toward modeling of PV plants, and their control in grid connected operation. All the necessary information related to these fields is available in the book.
