A. Borodin. Little Suite. Scherzo As-dur. For piano
The piano music has never attracted the A. P. Borodin's (1833-1887) main attention. Piano compositions occupy a rather modest place in the composer's legacy. The "Little Suite" represents a new type of cycle, combining features of a concert style and music for home music making. Scherzo As-dur was highly appreciated by F. Liszt, whom Borodin had visited in Weimar. The composition did not immediately enter the performers' repertoire, but succeeded to gain its place in the pianists' repertoire over some time. The edition is addressed to pupils of the middle and senior grades of children's music schools, students of music and culture schools, performing pianists, and a wide range of piano music lovers. Borodin. Symphony No. 2 (The Bogatyrian). Pocket Score
Aleksandr Porfirevich Borodin (1833-1887), russkij kompozitor i uchenyj-khimik. Aktivno zanimalsja nauchnoj, pedagogicheskoj i obschestvennoj dejatelnostju. S 1874 goda rukovodil khimicheskoj laboratoriej Mediko-khirurgicheskoj akademii. Esche v 1950-e gody Borodin nachal pisat romansy, fortepiannye pesy, kamerno-instrumentalnye ansambli. V 1862 poznakomilsja s M. A. Balakirevym i prisoedinilsja k Balakirevskomu kruzhku ("Moguchej kuchke"). Pod vlijaniem M. A. Balakireva, V. V. Stasova i drugikh "kuchkistov" okonchatelno slozhilis muzykalno-esteticheskie vzgljady Borodina kak posledovatelja M. I. Glinki, priverzhentsa russkoj natsionalnoj shkoly v muzyke. Tvorcheskoe nasledie Borodina sravnitelno neveliko po objomu, no javljaetsja tsennejshim vkladom v sokrovischnitsu russkoj muzykalnoj klassiki. K naibolee populjarnym proizvedenijam kompozitora otnosjatsja opera "Knjaz Igor" i Simfonija No2 ("Bogatyrskaja"). Borodin nachal rabotat nad simfoniej zimoj 1869/1870 goda. K oseni 1871 goda simfonija byla sochinena. V 1871-1873 godakh kompozitor neodnokratno pokazyval ee druzjam. Odnako tolko k sentjabrju 1875 goda on zavershil 4-ruchnoe perelozhenie (v janvare 1877 goda opublikovannoe izdatelstvom Besselja). Partitura zhe byla gotova lish k letu 1876 goda. Premera sostojalas 26 fevralja 1877 goda v Peterburge pod upravleniem E. Napravnika. Pervoe ispolnenie v Moskve bylo osuschestvleno 20 dekabrja 1880 goda N. Rubinshtejnom. Publikatsija partitury simfonii sostojalas uzhe posle smerti kompozitora (takzhe v izdatelstve Besselja). Sam avtor uspel prosmotret chast korrektur, ostalnye byli vypravleny druzjami kompozitora, blagodarja chemu na partiture pojavilos oboznachenie: "Izdanie otredaktirovano N. Rimskim-Korsakovym i A. Glazunovym". V partiture suschestvujut nekotorye raznochtenija s pervonachalnoj rukopisju i s 4-ruchnym perelozheniem (samoe suschestvennoe iz nikh - rasshirena glavnaja partija v ekspozitsii pervoj chasti, dobavleny nachalnye 24 takta). Sam avtor peresmotrel orkestrovku pered ispolneniem 1879 goda - vmeste s dirizherom etogo kontserta Rimskim-Korsakovym. Vozmozhno, chto nekotorye melkie izmenenija vnosilis v orkestrovku i v svjazi s ispolnenijami simfonii v 1880-e gody. Nelzja s uverennostju utverzhdat, chto vse eti izmenenija byli sdelany lichno avtorom. Odnako bessporno, chto oni byli osuschestvleny pri zhizni avtora i s ego soglasija: k momentu smerti Borodina partitura byla nagravirovana. Poetomu simfonija traditsionno publikuetsja v etom, vyrazhajuschem poslednjuju avtorskuju volju, vide. Vtoraja simfonija Borodina prochno voshla v repertuar veduschikh orkestrov mira. Izdanie adresovano dirizheram, muzykovedam, a takzhe shirokomu krugu ljubitelej muzyki.

Prince Igor. Opera in four acts with prologue. Piano score. With transliterated text
Prince Igor is the opera by A. Borodin in 4 acts with prologue. Libretto was written by the composer himself on the base of V. Stasov's "The Song of Igor's Campaign". N. Rimsky-Korsakov and A. Glazunov completed the opera. While conceiving the opera, Borodin inserted essential changes to the initial Stasov's scenario. The composer studied chronicles and other artifacts of the Old Russian folklore and the Polovetsian tradition having been preserved in Hungary. The first performance took place on the Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre stage in 1890. Since that time the "Prince Igor" is on roll all over the world. Main parts were acted by such famous actors as P. Hohlov, F. Shalyapin, M. Reisen, M. Mikhailov, M. Slavina, N. Obukhova, S. Lemeshev, I. Kozlovsky, Ye. Nesterenko. The Polovtsian dances were staged by such ballet-masters as L. Ivanov, M. Fokin, K.
