The Inner Chamber and the Inner Life: The Power of Gods Word, Revealed by Moses and Christ in the Bible (Hardcover)
Andrew Murray's classic guide to nurturing the inner spirit relates many inspiring spiritual stories, such as the life of the Prophet Moses and God's thoughts as dispensed by the Lord Jesus Christ. An all-embracing tour of Biblical profundity, The Inner Chamber and the Inner Life looks at a variety of Bible stories and incidents to show the reader how to be mindful of the essential teachings of God. The titular 'inner chambers' refer to the atmosphere in which the truest prayer takes place; it is by admitting ourselves to these regularly that we attain authentic 'inner life'. In writing this book, Murray aims to prepare and motivate the reader for this closer connection to the divine. Yet this book is not simply a devotional with an emphasis on prayer; it is a manual which discusses improving one's relationship with God. Keeping oneself mindful of the sacrifice and efforts of Jesus, and carrying out the virtues preached by the Son of God is paramount to gaining a closer bond with the force of the Lord.

"Absolute Surrender and Other Addresses" is a compilation of sermons and essays written by the famous South African religious leader Andrew Murray. Born in South Africa in 1828, Murray grew up educated in Scotland and later the Netherlands. He returned to South Africa in 1848 after his ordination and pastored several churches all over South Africa. Murray was an important proponent of the "Higher Life" or "Keswick" movement which believed that after one's initial baptism into the Christian faith one must continue to work on a second blessing from God. This second blessing or purpose is possible by living a more holy and less sinful daily life. This goal may only be achieved by surrendering one's will and daily life absolutely to Jesus and by studying and understanding Jesus's words and lessons to his disciples. In these stirring and inspiring sermons, Murray details the benefits of absolute surrender to God, such as untold blessings and a true experience of Jesus, and instructs the faithful in how to achieve this surrender in their daily life. Murray's wise words continue to guide the faithful over a hundred years later. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper.

As a young man, Andrew Murray wanted to be a minister, but it was a career choice rather than an act of faith. Not until he had finished his general studies and begun his theological training, in the Netherlands, did he experience a conversion of heart. In a letter to his parents, Murray wrote, "Your son has been born again. ... I have cast myself on Christ." This "casting of the self" became Murray's life theme. Sixty years of ministry in the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, more than 200 books and tracts on Christian spirituality and ministry, extensive social work, and the founding of educational institutions--all these were outward signs of the inward grace that Murray experienced by continually casting himself on Christ." May not a single moment of my life be spent outside the light, love, and joy of God's presence," was his prayer. "And not a moment without the entire surrender of myself as a vessel for him to fill full of his Spirit and his love." (christianitytoday.com)

Written in 1888, "Abide in Christ" is Andrew Murray's beautiful and inspiring spiritual guide to a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. While born in South Africa in 1828, as Murray's father was a Dutch Reformed Church missionary sent from Scotland, Murray grew up educated in Scotland and later the Netherlands. He returned to South Africa in 1848 after his ordination, pastored several churches all over South Africa, and was an important forerunner of the later Pentecostal movement. Murray was an important proponent of the "Higher Life" or "Keswick" movement which believed that after one's initial baptism into the Christian faith one must continue to work on a second blessing from God. This second blessing or purpose is possible by living a more holy and less sinful daily life. The idea of continuing to practice a Godly and Christian way of life is central to Murray's eloquent guide "Abide in Christ." The title is taken from Jesus's description of the relationship with his disciples, that they must "Follow me." In this 31-day meditative and spiritual guide, Murray shows the reader how they too may abide with Jesus in their daily lives and thus achieve a more profound and intimate relationship with Christ. After an illness interrupted his ministry for more than two years, Andrew Murray received a miraculous restoration of health through the prayers of God's people. Divine Healing is the classic work resulting from Murray's deep study of Scripture on this topic, and the sermons that resulted from that study. In it, he unpacks the promise of James 5, that the prayer of faith will heal the sick. He writes about the prerequisites for healing, which are repentance from sin and the sanctification of the body by fully giving it over to God. Murray addresses such questions as: Is it God's will to heal the sick? Why are some people healed while others are not? What role do doctors play in miraculous healing? Why do many Christians doubt the gifts of healing? Does sickness come from God or from Satan? Andrew Murray's personal testimony and biblical teaching will serve as inspiration for readers to trust in God's healing touch in their areas of deepest need.
