'डोली' उपन्यास नहीं जीवन दर्शन है। इस उपन्यास में शहरी वातावरण में पले बढ़े और साथ-साथ एमबीबीएस की पढ़ाई करने वाले दो दोस्त रोहन और निशा की दोस्ती प्यार में बदलती है और वे एक दूसरे से बेहद प्यार करते हैं । दोनों शादी के पवित्र बंधन में बंधने का ख्वाब देखते हैं लेकिन एक अप्रत्याशित घटना से दोनों बिछूड़ जाते हैं और रोहन सुदूरवर्ती बिहड़ जंगल में पहुंच जाता है और आशा को दिल दे बैठता है तथा उससे शादी कर लेता है। जब निशा उसे ढूंढते हुए उस गांव में पहुंचती है तथा हकीकत से सामना होता है तो आशा और निशा के बीच एक दरार पैदा होता है । टेंशन से निशा जंगल में भटक जाती है और खूंखार उग्रवादी रज्जू को अपना दिल दे बैठती है। उपन्यास की कहानी 'सच्चा प्रेम' और 'परिस्थिति जन्य प्रेम' में अंतर तलाशते ग्रामीण जीवन के स्वास्थ्य सुविधाएं, कुपोषण,सिकल सेल एनीमिया पर प्रकाश डालती हैं तथा मानवीय मूल्यों, संवेदनाओं को उकेरती है । आशा और निशा के साहसिक कार्य रोमांच पैदा करते हैं तथा ये नायिकाएं सशक्त नारी के रूप में अमित छाप छोड़ने में सफल रही है तथा नारी 'अबला नहीं सबला है ' उक्ति को सार्थक करती हैं । इनका चरित्र चित्रण 'नारी सशक्तिकरण' सूत्र को ध्यान में रखकर गढ़ा गया है । आशा है यह उपन्यास आपके भरपूर मनोरंजन के साथ-साथ विभिन्न सामाजिक पहलुओं को समझने में मददगार होगी अनंत शुभकामनाओं के साथ आपका अरुण गुप्ता
