Mit der Geschichte des Filzes haben sich bislang nur wenige Gelehrte in umfassender Weise besch ftigt; lediglich der K lner Orientalist Berthold Laufer (1874-1934) hat mit seinem 1930 in der Zeitschrift American Anthropologist das Thema so weitgespannt und kompetent behandelt, da sie bis heute als eine Art Klassiker gilt.
