Chip Wars: Written in 2005 with some updates-still the defining book on chip technology for programmers, analysts, IT Directors, network analysts...ev
There is no better kept secret in your computer than the chip that makes everything go. Most People simply look for Intel Inside and look no further. That paradigm had been working for years. Today you can find better performance and lower prices with alternative processing chips. Intel, the dominant chip maker in the world is a household name but is it still the technology leader that it claims to be? This book answers that question and it also gives you information that you need to know to understand what's inside the engine of your computer and why the old maxims no longer apply. You won't be able to put this book down. Everything you want to know about chips is in here. The beauty of this book is that it not only gives you the inside scoop on which engine should drive your PC, but it also offers a first-class business and historical perspective on a fascinating technology based industry. The Chip War between AMD and Intel, IBM, and others will be big news for years to come. Even then, the case may not be decided permanently. Who will survive? Who will win the Chip Wars? This book gives you the best insights as to what the fight is all about and who is poised to win. Though this book was originally produced in 2005 and it is in its second reprint with minor modifications, it is still the defining book for programmers, analysts, IT Directors, network analysts, etc. Even John Q. Public can gain from reading this great book. It speaks the language of every day Americans and does not assume everybody is a technology engineer. You may even find yourself selling or buying some stock based on what you are about to gain from this book. The Chip industry is a real soap opera and the facts actually make a great tale. When you read the details, you will be glued to this book. You will soon know the whole story. With lots of chatter behind the scenes, IBM, an unlikely contestant in the Chip Wars, is keeping very quiet. But isn't Big Blue the leader in future home technology with its lock on the game console industry? Why is it that it seems that the only two chip companies who are not paying IBM for semiconductor advice are IBM and Intel? What about the many semiconductor partnerships going on today? Who will they benefit? Why does it seem that IBM, a company that is theoretically not even at war with Intel on all of the industry semiconductor teams? Could this group of partners be ready to take on Intel in the open community? Viva La Guerra
Can the AS/400 Survive IBM?: This classic 2004 saga about the AS/400 will make AS/400 aficionados tear. It is a great historical perspective as to why
For quite a few years, my friends in the computer industry and I have been confused by IBM's failure to highlight its single best product, the AS/400. I can remember saying to members of this group of AS/400 aficionados that only IBM could create the AS/400 and only IBM could destroy the AS/400. No company besides IBM could have invested as much capital on the technology that was necessary to create the AS/400, and no other company could intentionally destroy the product of its efforts, as the finest computer system ever built. After many years spent telling customers that it was planning to promote the AS/400, the plan never came. IBM's AS/400 customers are now in revolt against the company. IBM has not done a good job in its vital roles as caretaker and life-sustainer of this system, upon which many customers run their businesses. If IBM were doing a good job, one of the most asked questions in the industry would not be the following: "Is the AS/400 Dead?" Most people see IBM as a very successful company that is really great at making big computers. That is IBM's legacy for those who drink from the fountain of public knowledge. Unless you work in the computer industry, you would naturally be unaware of all the ventures over the years in which IBM was less than successful. For the record, today's IBM is the same IBM that lost the PC business, the relational database business, the telecommunications business, the application software business, the satellite communications business, the Unix business, the word processing business, the video disk business, the computerized branch exchange business, the disk drive business, as well a number of other businesses in which you and I would have made millions. Yet, without learning a lesson, the new IBM is behaving as arrogantly with its AS/400 customers as it did during these other great losses. So what are we to expect?
The All-Everything Operating System: IBM i for Business Means Business!!!
Sometimes the best deal in town is a bona fide steal and you're the one robbed. Any "low cost" server that fails more often than its equally low business value would justify its worth no more than a bushel of pencils. The deceptive allure of low pricing has played bandit in more than a few episodes of server pillaging. Fortunately, cost is no longer the paramount factor, now displaced by business value and resiliency. Small and large businesses alike are fed up with their systems' chronic unavailability. There no longer exists the luxury of indulging the whims and caprices of every unresponsive system or lingering down situation. Resiliency is the new paradigm. The new business world operates in an exponentially more real time fashion. Transactions and information flow with the currents of broadband. Transactions execute immediately. Tolerance for downtime has dissipated. What can a business, of any size, use to stay afloat? The all-everything operating system, IBM i, is the best answer, short of a pencil. Trust the Casinos, who currently use IBM i. Any doubts of their pressing need for systems reliability? In IBM i, the company has made the finest, most architecturally elegant, most usable, most productive, most affordable, and least frustrating operating system of all time. Its IBM Power System, driven by IBM i, is a "mainframe for the masses" because it can be as large and big as a mainframe but it also fits just as effectively into a small business. It's highly secure, productive, granular, and affordable and eschews the operational impediments that would diminish revenue, regulatory compliance, and corporate reputation. The all everything operating system is designed to resist viruses and run smoothly at all times. Numerous customer testimonials aver that and much more. This book walks you through the story of this unique operating system from its inception until today. It presents its underlying superiority, its rapid customer acceptance, development history, and its probable future. Inside, its unique architecture and interactions are discussed in easily accessible layman's terms. Upon finishing this book, you will understand why IBM is proud to have built the finest operating system in the universe and why it deserves the name, "all-everything" operating system. Its manifold improvements and value implications are condensed here in a single collection of pages.
The Us Immigration Fix: The Kind of Fix Americans Will Like
As difficult as it is for good, hard-working Americans to believe, our government is working to keep us poor. They are lying and they are passing legislation that can only help somebody from another country beat out an American for the few jobs that exist in America. Then, these poor souls languish in misery and a lifetime of poverty. The US Immigration Fix takes interlopers out of the shadows and gives them the opportunity, if well behaved, to stay and work in America for a lifetime. No amnesty, no citizenship, no freebies is a demand Americans have made and it is satisfied in this plan. You're going to like it. Any questions?
The Lifetime Guest Plan: Finally, a Long Term Immigration Fix That Puts Americans First!

Taxation Without Representation: Can the U.S. Avoid Another "Boston Tea Party?"
Just as in 1776, todays Americans are overtaxed and lacking genuine representation. Brian Kelly wrote this book because our representatives, both nationally and locally, have abandoned their duties as agents of the people and forgotten our role as fundamental voices in a constitutional democracy. Twenty consecutive years of non-responsive Presidencies, unprotected borders, and a Congress with more blame to go around than accomplishments yields a catastrophic failure of a report card. Kelly illustrates how public servants are so overwhelmed with self interests, special interests, the interests of corporations and the interests of other countries that they have no time to work for the people. He eviscerates, with cogence and gusto, the veneer of honor cloaking some of our nation's most dishonorable public servants. Something went critically awry between 1776 and now. After depicting the problem, your author unearths a cornucopia of political trickeries aimed at taking our money, including a litany of creative taxes imposed against U. S. citizens. He then embarks on a no-holds-barred safari through some of America's most crippling domestic problems, fueled by representative negligence, corporate power, and greed. He questions the modern role of Unions. From there, your author explains the nations emergent problems of visa abuse, the selling out of American jobs, and the unhealthy impact of illegal foreign nationals on the lives of American citizens. He explores the lack of free and honest elections, recounting recent judicial decisions and the push for fraud-prone voting machines. Despite its grave insights, the book animates at all times a spirit of hope and impetus for change which can help direct all efforts to avoid another Boston Tea Party. I hope you enjoy reading this book and that you will remain vigilant and take the actions necessary to ensure that this experiment in democracy, the United States of America, can continue persevering for centuries upon centuries. I wish you the best -Brian P. Kelly, Publisher

Thank You IBM!: Second Edition. the Story of How IBM Helped Today's Technology Millionaires and Billionaires Gain Their Vast Fortunes.
IBM is the oldest commercial computer company in the world. Its roots spring from the merger of The International Time Recording Company Computing Scale Company, and the Tabulating Machine Company in the 19th century. The merged company became known as International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) in 1924. IBM has coined many terms such as word processing, teleprocessing, and eBusiness over its 100 years of operation. The company has also done the background work for many computer sub-industries, such as disk, tape, data communications, personal computer, relational database, RISC processing, microchips, mainframes, and of course the IBM PC & others. IBM continues to be the leader in mainframe computers and cloud computing, though at one time it dominated all areas of computing. Over the years, IBM's concentration on mainframes permitted billionaires to be created in sub- industries, in which IBM unwittingly chose not to compete. For example, Bill Gates, who supplied just two software products for IBM's 1981 PC is now the richest man in the world. IBM could have been a much more successful company if it had paid attention to its many different businesses. Since IBM did not pay attention, there are tens of thousands of extra millionaires & billionaires in the computer field, who one day should stop and thank IBM for their success. That's what this book is about Just say: Thank You IBM
