What happens when Julia meets Julia? CORAZON ETERNO (always in my heart) by Caridad Svich is a play about love ignited, denied, rekindled, rejected, and renewed; of love pragmatic and impossible, temporal and eternal; and ultimately the ability of love to transform the human experience. This play premiered at Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis. This revised edition was written for the 2017 Ignite Festival of New Works at Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.

In a series of interviews with fifty playwrights from the US and UK, this book offers a fascinating study of the voices, thoughts, and opinions of today’s most important dramatists. Filled with probing questions, Fifty Playwrights on their Craft explores ideas such as how does playwriting help a global dialogue; where do dramatists find the ideas that become the stories and narratives within their plays; how can the stage inform the writer’s creative process; how does crossing boundaries between art forms push the living art form of theatre-making forward; and will there be playwrights in another 50 years? This play was commissioned and produced by the University of Missouri-Columbia Department of Theatre and first directed by Kevin Brown. DE TROYA by Caridad Svich is a mash-up of a ghost story, a mythic urban fable and a cracked fairy tale for a contemporary world. This play received its world premiere in April 2017 as a Cara Mia Theatre Co. production (David Lozano, Executive Artistic Director) at Arts Mission Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas. Upon return, she confronts matters of love, faith and reconnecting with the brother and sister whom she left behind. A poetically realistic drama about coming through grief, the lies we tell each other in the name of family and religion, and how we can all begin again. This play is the fourth play in Svich's "American Quartet."

SPARK is a play by Caridad Svich about three sisters living in the US caught in the mess of a recent war's aftermath. It is about what happens when soldiers come home, when women of little economic means must find a way to make do and carry on, and the strength, ultimately, of family. AGUA DE LUNA (PSALMS FOR THE ROUGE) is a new play by Caridad Svich that traces the personal lives of three couples living in southwest Detroit. Written in close-ups snapshots of ache, hunger, passion and hope, the play speaks to the search for a bit of magic in the everyday. This play premiered at Matrix Theatre Company in Detroit, which commissioned the piece. This is a Santa Catalina Editions publication.

UPON THE FRAGILE SHORE is a play for four actors by Caridad Svich that explores human rights and environmental issues around the world especially in relationship to human-made tragedies and their aftermath. The play centers on stories from the United States, Nigeria, Syria, Malaysia, sub-Sahara, and Venezuela. Seven interlocking stories. Fourteen characters played by four actors. THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF DREAMS AND OTHER PLAYS collects four of playwright Caridad Svich's epic "fantasias" for the theatre. This commingling of emotion happens in each of these dramatic portraits of homeless castaways (Fugitive Pieces), women in war (Thrush), and sex traffickers (Rift). And Svich's work is not without a nod to the classical: "Wreckage" reframes the story of Medea, and "Steal Back Light from the Virtual" depicts a labyrinthine society torn apart by a monstrous beast. In sum, "Instructions for Breathing and Other Plays" serves as an illuminating introduction to the work of a major playwright, and an inspiring example of the breadth of possibilities in North American drama.

In Caridad Svich's play GUAPA: Single-mom Roly lives in a dusty Texas town that everyone longs to escape. She's never seen anything like Guapa, a natural-born athlete with a fiery ambition to become an international soccer star. When Guapa joins Roly's family, everyone's life is turned upside down. With only one shot to reach the big leagues from the barrio, how can Guapa convince the non-believers to let go of their doubts, spread their wings and fly? This play received an NNPN rolling world premiere at Borderlands Theater, Phoenix Theatre and Miracle Theatre Group, and a 2012 Edgerton Foundation New Play Award.
