Noen fikk legendestatus etter bare få opptredener, og Don Rosa har spunnet videre på deres anliggender og tilbøyeligheter, helt i Barks' ånd. Her treffer vi fetter Anton i Barks' første fortelling med ham, paret med Rosas jubileumshistorie om hvordan han fikk den ufordragelige flaksen. Magica fra Tryll fløy aller første gang til Andeby med jetfly for å tilrane seg Skrues dyrebare lykkemynt, mens hun i Rosas versjon materialiserer seg gjennom teleportering! Petter Smart får sin oppfølger i dobbelt forstand i Rosas forlengelse av uferdige skisser fra Barks' hånd. Aller viktigst for Don Rosa ble det å utdype fortellingen om Gyldne Gulda. Er det mulig, å lage én bok med det beste fra Andebys skaper? Her i hvert i alle fall noe av det ypperste, omsorgsfullt plukket ut av to kjennere. Det er legendariske Gullhjelmen, den norske favoritten om firkanteggene, og mange andre, også noen mer obskure, som Donalds skjebnesvangre forsøk på hønseoppdrett. Noe Barks selv hadde befattet seg med! Denne praktboken viser dessuten flere av Barks' talenter, som han hadde større suksess med enn høns ... Som pensjonist malte han fremragende oljemalerier, med motiv fra seriene. Et fint utvalg av dem er vakkert gjengitt i bokens store format. Mindre kjent er hans tidligste Disney-oppdrag, men Barks bidro vesentlig på flere av Disneys populære tegnefilmer. Skissene hans, såkalte storyboards, er kunst i seg selv, og boken viser flere hele sekvenser fra filmer vi har sett på TV. Enda mer ukjent er hans tidligste tegnekarriere i et herreblad på 1920-tallet. Tidstypiske vitsetegninger litt på kanten, men som fortjener sin plass i en bok kalt Carl Barks' beste. Tegneserier, forsider, oljemalerier, tegnefilmer og vitsetegninger, fra den store tegneren som ville vært 120 år i 2021.
