Los modelos de la superficie geoidal permiten la transformaci n de alturas satelitales en valores de alturas f sicas, con precisi n que depende de la exactitud del modelo de transformaci n. Al involucrarse la superficie f sica del geoide, definida por distribuciones de masas locales, los estudios de otra regi n no pueden extrapolarse, cualquier modelo local debe surgir de observaciones locales. La precisi n de un modelo de geoide calculado mediante procedimiento geom trico, depende de: la precisi n de las alturas, la densidad y distribuci n de los puntos datos y de la calidad de la interpolaci n. Hoy la precisi n en la determinaci n de alturas, no es problema, pero en Santiago del Estero, resulta complicado mejorar la densidad de puntos de cota conocida; la nica posibilidad de mejorar la precisi n de un modelo local, es mejorar la calidad del proceso de interpolaci n. Con datos locales, de observaciones puntuales de ondulaci n geoidal, se ensayaron 11 m todos de interpolaci n en diferentes combinaciones de par metros intr nsecos de cada uno. As resultaron un total de 161 y uno combinaciones probadas y contrastadas mediante un triple procedimiento de validaci n cruzada cada una.
