The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals (Der Ausdruck von Emotionen bei Mensch und Tier) ist Charles Darwins drittes gro es Werk zur Evolutionstheorie, nach On the Origin of Species (1859) und The Descent of Man (1871).

Read & Co. Science presents this brand new edition of Charles Darwin's seminal scientific text, "On the Origin of Species" (1859). Although several evolutionary theories existed at the time, Darwin's book introduced the theory that species evolve and over time through mutation and natural selection. Darwin wrote the book for non-specialists, granting it with widespread appeal, and it has formed the foundation of evolution in biology and modern life sciences. Charles Robert Darwin (1809-1882) was born in Shropshire, England. His first text chronicling his five-year voyage on the HMS Beagle, which included his notable visit to the Galapagos Islands, earned him success as an author in 1839. His observations from the Galapagos, alongside an interest in natural history from an early age and studies over the consequent years, informed the development of his biological theories, culminating in this ground-breaking text for which he is best known.

This volume is part of the definitive edition of letters written by and to Charles Darwin, the most celebrated naturalist of the nineteenth century. Notes and appendixes put these fascinating and wide-ranging letters in context, making the letters accessible to both scholars and general readers. Darwin depended on correspondence to collect data from all over the world, and to discuss his emerging ideas with scientific colleagues, many of whom he never met in person. The letters are published chronologically. In 1881, Darwin published his final book, The Formation of Vegetable Mould through the Action of Worms. He reflected on reactions to his previous book, The Power of Movement in Plants, and worked on two papers for the Linnean Society on the action of carbonate of ammonia on plants. In this year, Darwin's elder brother, Erasmus, died, and a second grandchild, also named Erasmus, was born.
The Voyage of the Beagle recounts the experiences of the young botanist Charles Darwin and the discoveries he made during the five years (1831-1836) he spent circumnavigating the globe in the HMS Beagle.
A modern and beautifully redesigned version of a classic science text. Originally published in 1859, On the Origin of Species is one of the most important texts ever released. Written by the father of evolutionary theory, Charles Darwin, it not only restructured how we view life on Earth, but also provided an important step in our ability to answer the big questions: namely, 'where did we come from' Taking over 20 years to write, Darwin considered the finished manuscript to be about half the length he initially intended. He 'rushed' toward the end, due to the similar work of Alfred Russell Wallace which was also due to be released, even limiting the time grieving for the death of his son to 5 days. The work itself is now one of the most famous in history, arguably contributing more to scientific and rationalist thought than any other singular release.
Charles Darwin's classic that exploded into public controversy, revolutionized the course of science, and continues to transform our views of the world. Few other books have created such a lasting storm of controversy as The Origin of Species. Darwin's theory that species derive from other species by a gradual evolutionary process and that the average level of each species is heightened by the "survival of the fittest" stirred up popular debate to fever pitch. Its acceptance revolutionized the course of science.
