"The Lazy Tour of Two Idle Apprentices" is a collaborative painting by way of the renowned Victorian authors Charles Dickens. The book takes the shape of a travelogue and follows the fictitious adventure of two idle apprentices, Thomas Idle and Francis Goodchild. The narrative unfolds as a chain of funny and reflective sketches recounting the adventures and encounters of Idle and Goodchild in the course of their travels. As the two characters embark on a leisurely adventure thru the English countryside, the authors use the placing to discover subject matters of idleness, introspection, and the quirks of human nature. The collaborative attempt among Dickens and Collins adds a dynamic layer to the storytelling, combining Dickens's wit and Collins's narrative ability. The book offers readers a lovely exploration of person dynamics, scenic landscapes, and the funny observations of the 2 protagonists. While "The Lazy Tour of Two Idle Apprentices" may not be as extensively identified as some of Dickens's predominant novels, it stands as a testament to the authors' creative collaboration and their capacity to interact readers via a lighter and more whimsical literary form.

A Christmas Carol is one of the most famous, heart warming, and chilling festive stories of all time. We meet Ebenezer Scrooge here, whose name is synonymous with greed and parsimony: 'Every idiot who says 'Merry Christmas' should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a holly stake in the heart.'On Christmas Eve, the ghost of his old partner, Jacob Marley, returns from the grave to haunt him. Three spirits visit Scrooge in turn, each revealing his error and gradually melting his frozen heart, leading him to redemption. Scrooge's journey takes us past a rich array of Dickensian characters, including the poor Cratchit family with ailing Tiny Tim and the generous Fezziwig. A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens in 1843, captures the essence of the love, kindness, and generosity of the Christmas season. It is a timeless classic, and the story's uplifting magic is as powerful today as it was then. Complete and unabridged with all the original illustrations by John Leech

A TIMELESS MASTERPIECE FOR THE GENERATIONS This timeless masterpiece, teeming with colorful characters, unexpected plot twists, and Dickens' vivid rendering of the vast tapestry of mid-Victorian England, Great Expectations is considered by many to be Dickens' finest novel. It continues to enthrall new generations of readers Dickens tells the story of humble, orphaned Philip Pirrip (Pip), the book's narrator, who is taken under the wing of the reclusive, embittered, eccentric jilted bride, Miss Havisham-only to blindly give his heart to the dowager's beautiful but haughty ward, Estella. As Pip unravels the truth behind his own 'great expectations' we follow him through this gripping tale of crime and guilt, revenge and reward, and love and loss. His thrilling adventures are set in a suspenseful story of aspirations and moral redemption, and we watch him develop from a boy of shallow dreams into a gentleman, as he discovers the truth about himself. Written in the last decade of Dickens' life, Great Expectations was believed by many critics to be his finest. Praised it for its masterful plot, it rises above the melodrama of some of his earlier works and his psychologically realistic characters, including the kindly blacksmith Joe Gargery, the fearful and fearsome convict Abel Magwitch, the eccentric Miss Haversham and the beautiful Estella, Pip's good-hearted roommate Herbert Pocket and the pompous Pumblechookare are deeper and more interesting that those of his earlier novels. Dickens has created a shrewd insight into real life.

Maailma kuulsaim jõululugu. Uues eestikeelses tõlkes, Lisa Aisato rikkalike illustratsioonidega. Ehk on ikkagi mõtet teistest hoolida? Kirjanikunaalustas tegevust pseudonüümi all, luues skitse ajalehtedele. In October 1843, Charles Dickens - heavily in debt and obligated to his publisher - began work on a book to help supplement his family's meager income. That volume, A Christmas Carol, has long since become one of the most beloved stories in the English language. As much a part of the holiday season as holly, mistletoe, and evergreen wreaths, this perennial favorite continues to delight new readers and rekindle thoughts of charity and goodwill. With its characters exhibiting many qualities - as well as failures - often ascribed to Dickens himself, the imaginative and entertaining tale relates Ebenezer Scrooge's eerie encounters with a series of spectral visitors. Journeying with them through Christmases past, present, and future, he is ultimately transformed from an arrogant, obstinate, and insensitive miser to a generous, warmhearted, and caring human being. Written by one of England's greatest and most popular novelists, A Christmas Carol has come to epitomize the true meaning of Christmas.
