In West Berlin, Amy Brecker, an American intelligence officer, takes a chance on a walk-in informant who says that the Soviets are going to simulate an "accident" that will cripple America's space-based defense program. From a Soviet silo on the Sea of Japan, a single missile rises. A hotline communique from Moscow insists that a mistake has been made; the Soviets are doing everything in their power to abort the "test" flight. Deep inside Cheyenne Mountain at the Aerospace Defense Command Center, all eyes watch its trajectory: a collision course with America's manned space lab. If the U. S. chooses to intercept and destroy the Russian missile, the attempt must not end in failure . . . the future of Ameria's entire space-based defense hangs in the balance. Only one U. S. anti-satellite weapon can foil the opening gambit of what might be a Soviet First Strike -- and only Amy Brecker and her "hot stick" pilot have enough of the Right Stuff to use.

Is God still in the miracle business? Did miracles only occur for the early church? Can God really do the impossible? Is the Bible trustworthy, and was Jesus telling the truth? Can we physically experience or even see miracles? Like most people, when I was young, I had faith in Jesus but scoffed at people who said they had witnessed miracles. Then I witnessed one little miracle. I was dumbfounded. I then witnessed another, and then another, and before long I witnessed miracle after miracle . . . incredible miracles that I had been told only the early church could experience. I wrote this book for my children, because I wanted them to have a record of the acts of the Holy Spirit we had witnessed on our journey through life. Everything Jesus said proved to be true. Our family is not special. We are not saints. We are not unusual. We have our problems and shortcomings. I suspect our family is not much different than yours, except perhaps for one thing. We pray for the Lord's help and believe His help is on the way Jesus said in Mark 11:23-24, "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea, ' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

"A fantasy series about the Sacred Band of Stepsons, an elite army modeled on the fourth-century B. C. E. Sacred Band of Thebes. The stories explore the fraught personal relationships of mixed hetero- and homosexual troops, only sometimes paired, as they fight for their commander, the immortal Tempus. Morris includes archaeological and historical details, from physical items to social practices, religion, and philosophy, to create a fantasy world that is, in many ways, more historically accurate than many popular accounts of antiquity." -- Robert W.
