Chris Robinson

Ever wonder why Estonian animation features so many carrots or why cows often perform pyramids? Well, neither question is answered in Chris Robinson's new book, Estonian Animation. Robinson's frank, humorous, and thoroughly researched book traces the history of Estonia's acclaimed animation scene from early experiments in the 1930s to the creation of puppet (Nukufilm) and cel (Joonisfilm) animation studios during the Soviet era, as well as Estonia's surprising international success during the post-Soviet era. In addition, Robinson writes about the discovery of films by four 1960s animation pioneers who, until the release of this book, had been unknown to most Estonian and international animation historians.

This book probes for answers to how one of hockeys greatest players could also lead one of the most tragic and mysterious personal lives. Chris Robinson juxtaposes these investigations with his own beginnings as a troubled youth who found relief in the cardboard identities put forth by hockey cards and by his own identity as a street-hockey hotshot. Another means of escape for both men became alcohol, a facet of hockey culture thoroughly examined by Robinsons sceptical eye. Informing everything is Robinsons scrappy-yet-meditative, harsh yet humorous thoughts on a game that so many love to hate, or hate to love.

To save his family's farm and murdered brothers' racing team from an organized crime conglomerate's hostile take over bid, the quick tempered, irresponsible, and audacious Brandon Rodes must take up the torch and join the Southern Motors Alliance Racing Teams (S. M. A. R. T.) summer racing tour. To prove himself worthy of this honor he must first win the race of Whisky Run Road, out maneuver the numerous traps set for him, come to terms with his inner demons and Faith, fall in love and stay one step in front of the bad guys sent to stop him. Follow Brandon and his quirky crew, The Stinky River Gang, on their adventurous quest across the South as they race the races, fight the fights, and find the courage to defeat the obstacles before them.
