was the Night Before Christmas is edited by Santa Claus for the benefit of children of the twenty-first century. Letter from Santa Claus: In this special twenty-first-century edition, selected lines have quietly slipped from the pages. Here at the North Pole, we decided to leave all of that tired old business of smoking well behind us a long time ago. The reindeer also asked that I confirm that I have only ever worn faux fur out of respect for endangered species. Publishers note: It was our sincere pleasure to act on Santa's express wishes. As the direct link between the exposure to the depiction of characters smoking and youth initiation to nicotine has been well established, we were compelled to make these recommended changes.

"Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house..." So begins the immortal lines that begin one of America's most famous poems adding magic to one of America's most favorite holidays. Written in the 1820s, Clement C. Moore did not openly acknowledge that he was the author until almost 1840. That makes this edition, with original woodcut illustrations by T. C. Boyd, one of the earliest published editions of this timeless classic. Imagine sitting at the foot of the bed of your child reading from an edition that is nearly identical to what children were familiar with for more than 100 years And it gets better than that. The real Saint Nicholas was a real person who lived in the 4th century, famed for his generosity. What better way to celebrate Christmas than paying homage to one who knew the real 'reason for the season'? Available in both soft and hard cover editions, with bulk discounts available directly from the publisher.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there; The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads

On Christmas Eve night, while his wife and children sleep, a father awakens to noises outside his house. Looking out the window, he sees St. Nicholas in an air-borne sleigh pulled by eight reindeer. After landing his sleigh on the roof, the saint enters the house through the chimney, carrying a sack of toys with him. The father watches Nicholas filling the children's Christmas stockings hanging by the fire, and laughs to himself. They share a conspiratorial moment before the saint bounds up the chimney again. As he flies away, Saint Nicholas wishes everyone a "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night."
