In today's environment of partial attention and isolating remote work, few things are more satisfying than group experiences that produce powerful, meaningful connections and output. But this kind of enlivening, collective work doesn't happen by chance. It must be consciously designed and purposefully activated--;in a team, an organization, and a culture. The good news is that making space for this kind of work doesn't have to be hard. There's a technique available to everyone, with no special certification required: gamestorming. This substantial update to the best-selling O'Reilly book now includes three new chapters and 95 games. The authors identified and curated techniques from some of the world's most innovative professionals as well as inventing games of their own. This book is the result: a unique collection of approaches to simultaneously ignite engagement and level-up creative teamship while bringing agility and structure to gatherings at work in person and online. Shorten meetings and make them significantly more productive Increase efficacy and engagement in strategic thinking and problem-solving Enhance connection and communication across team members Elevate collaboration and uncover surprising solutions to sticky problems Generate better ideas and significantly improve remote work experiences
The choked, post-Corporation Wars city of Darke Prospect is ruled with an iron grip by the ruthless Charles Darke, head of the conglomerate which owns this hive of misery, crime and exploitation. Darke craves control above all else, and is prepared to do anything and use anyone to maintain it. In this bleak world, though, ripples are starting to stir on the water which Darke prefers to be still and unbroken. Seemingly unconnected players are being brought together, one thing linking them inextricably; Darke Prospect. Unknown to these people, the web in which they are now entangled may change the world in which they live forever. Ripples on Darke Water is a short story anthology which forms the first novel in the Darke Future series.
Ciaran O'Mahoney has a gift. Or perhaps a curse. In the city of Darke Prospect, his existence is as miserable as that of the bulk of the population. The polluted, industrialised streets are a hive of violence and poverty, cruelly inflicted on the populace by the ruthless Darke Conglomerate. Its head, Charles Darke, is not used to being a victim of the misery that he sows. But now, his favoured enforcer has been murdered, and O'Mahoney has been given the unenviable task of uncovering the culprit. O'Mahoney's investigations lead him to the home of Harold Tanner, a low-level thug and degenerate. As he questions his suspect, O'Mahoney is faced with the reality of Darke Prospect at its grimmest, and forced to question his own, pathetic existence. Ultimately, he may have to decide whether his life, as miserable as it is, is worth fighting for... Darke Memories is the first novel published as part of the Dark Future series
The stability of the realm of Castland is under threat. Still recovering from war with Raska to the east, border strife is bubbling with Barralegne to the west. Far to the south, across the sea, the desert people of Altanya are preparing their war machine, perfecting weaponry which could change the balance of power. But the threats do not only come from without. The people are unhappy, and their discontent is stirred by demagogues seeking to install proper democracy in the land. To the west, the peasantry is roused by a local noble's mistreatment of two shepherd brothers. In the east, a lord raised from the common folk is resistant to the established way of doing things. Some of the minority, usually-placid, Yanari resent their oppression, and the ancient Q'shari race still live in the wilds, driven from the world by human upstarts. And in the shadows, the sinister Order moves at all levels, plotting its rise to power. But the machinations of men are not the only tremor. Demons have begun to walk the Mortal World, seeking souls to devour. In the Astral Realm, the gods themselves are unsettled; they can sense that the Lurker has returned. The fates of gods and men are intertwined more closely than ever before...
Few laymen are aware that cookbooks devoted solely to the preparation of mushrooms exist. This fact is brought to their attention and a few recipes are presented in detail. No attempt is made to exhaust the subject but as in the remainder of the book, enough is presented to give a view of the potential and the reader is directed to the relevant literature so that he can pursue the subject in greater depth if he chooses.

The future of work is already here. Customers are adopting disruptive technologies faster than your company can adapt. When your customers are delighted, they can amplify your message in ways that were never before possible. But when your company's performance runs short of what you've promised, customers can seize control of your brand message, spreading their disappointment and frustration faster than you can keep up. To keep pace with today's connected customers, your company must become a connected company. That means deeply engaging with workers, partners, and customers, changing how work is done, how you measure success, and how performance is rewarded. It requires a new way of thinking about your company: less like a machine to be controlled, and more like a complex, dynamic system that can learn and adapt over time. Connected companies have the advantage, because they learn and move faster than their competitors. While others work in isolation, they link into rich networks of possibility and expand their influence. Connected companies around the world are aggressively acquiring customers and disrupting the competition. In The Connected Company, we examine what they're doing, how they're doing it, and why it works. And we show you how your company can use the same principles to adapt - and thrive - in today's ever-changing global marketplace.
