A thrilling tale of passion, courage and determination. Michael Collins became a hero: a soldier, a freedom-fighter, a ghost: Ireland’s Rebel Son. In life, in death, a legend. Raised on songs and stories of Irish heroes and the struggle for Irish independence, young Michael Collins was sworn into the IRB in London by Sam Maguire. As Joseph Plunkett’s aide-de-camp he took his place in the GPO at Easter 1916. He rose through the ranks in the universities of Revolution, the prisons of Stafford and Frongoch, and returned to the work of independence when released. Mick was the man behind the scenes: creator of the Intelligence network, the Squad and orchestrated the war against the British. When De Valera demanded he take his place as a negotiator of the Treaty, he did his duty, and then defended his beliefs as the country degenerated to Civil War. Cut down by his countrymen in his own country, the Big Fella died on 22 August 1922 at Béal na mBláth, but his legend continues to grow. This graphic novel chronicles the life and legacy of the legendary Michael Collins.

The unforgettable story of Ireland’s greatest unsung hero, Tom Crean, in graphic novel form. Tom Crean, the teenage son of a poor Kerry farmer, ran away from home in 1893 to seek adventure, and became a major figure in three pioneering expeditions to the unexplored Antarctic. Crean volunteered for Captain Robert Scott’s Discovery expedition in 1901 and was among the last to see Scott alive near the South Pole in 1912. He returned to the ice with Irishman Ernest Shackleton on the epic Endurance voyage. Undeterred by the hardships and hazards of trekking across the frozen wastes, more than once he risked all to save his companions in acts of astonishing bravery. When he settled back in Annascaul, the only hint Crean gave to his death-defying adventures was in the name of his pub: The South Pole Inn.

Deeply divided South Africa. Love and hate, right and wrong. A story of secrets born of shame and division. Generations who, in their own ways, grapple with choices and consequences. Set against the backdrop of actual historical events from 1914 to 1972, this thoughtprovoking book explores moral dilemmas that are as pertinent today as they were then.

Showcases early Glacier National Park photographers (1910-1940) and their iconic, historic images. Early Photographers of Glacier National Park examines the photographers, and the photographs they produced, who worked in the pre-park period up through the first three decades of Glacier Park (1910-1940). Photographers and their work examined include those accompanying the George B. Grinnell and Lyman B. Sperry explorations in the 1880s and 1890s, photographers for the early U. S. Geological Survey mapping projects, the stereogram photographs of N. A. Forsyth, college professor and first Glacier Park Naturalist Morton J. Elrod, photographers for the Great Northern Railway (Fred Kiser, R. E. "Ted" Marble, Roland Reed, and T. J. Hileman), National Park Service Photographer George A. Grant, U. S. Forest Service Photographer K. D. Swan, the fire lookout photographs of L. M. Moe, and the first aerial photographs of Glacier Park taken by Captain A. W. Stevens. The book also has several more modern photographs taken by the author and others, illustrating landscape changes in Glacier Park since the early period of park photography.

Explore the transformative impact of the Civilian Conservation Corps on Glacier National Park's infrastructure during the New Deal era. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), one of the most successful of all New Deal programs, was heavily involved in creating and improving the infrastructure of Glacier National Park. Between 1933 and 1942, a total of thirteen CCC camps were located on both sides of the Continental Divide that bisects the park roughly from north to south. CCC-I. D. (Indian Division) camps also existed along the eastern edge of the park on the Blackfeet Reservation. CCC "boys" were employed in fighting forest fires and clearing areas of burned trees, clearing brush and debris, sawing logs, creating trails, building fire lookout towers, constructing Park Service buildings, assisting with bridge construction, and building phone lines to connect east and west sides of the park. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt visited in August 1934 and gave one of his famous radio "fireside chats" from the park, in which he praised the efforts of the CCC in helping improve the country's national parks. Chapters examine CCC camp life, the nature of the work carried out by the CCC boys, structures built in the park by the CCC, and FDR's visit.

Are Baby Boomers out of touch? Are Millennials too self-absorbed? Are Generation X'ers overstressed by trying to bridge the gap? What can we expect from Generation Z? Generational differences are way too common in our world today. Baby Boomers get frustrated because Millennials won't pick up the phone. Generation X'ers would rather do the work themselves instead of relying on others. Millennials distrust older leaders because they feel that they only want to get rich. These scenes of dysfunction exist in nearly every business and organization in America. Sadly, we still tend to focus on the diversity instead of the inclusion. What if there was a way all generations could learn to understand each other? What if there were easy to apply solutions that could turn your communication discord into harmony? What if you could see into the future and begin to build a workplace culture that is ready for the next generation? Conquering the Generational Challenge is the work of two people who share a common interest in how people interact in the workplace. While they agree on the goal, David and Keith provide very different commentary on the challenge. David, as a business leader, draws from an immense background of real experiences to create fun and engaging stories that bring the challenges to life. Keith, as a psychologist, provides perspective on why individuals do the things they do, and what goes into making changes for the better. Together they balance the generational challenge and the collaborative solution. As you read through the stories, understand their message, and recognize generational commonalities, you will gain perspective and learn how to create a workplace where everyone can do their best.

This is a children's picture book edition of the best-selling adult book of the same title. Using illustrations and age-appropriate text, this children's edition features passages of scripture along with original text to tell the Easter story and provides ideas for family traditions that young children can understand to make the holiday more Christ-centered. Each spread uses at least one person from the Easter story--including Simon, Joseph and Nicodemus, Mary Magdalene, the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and Thomas--to illustrate a theme. For example, the story begins with Jesus' entry into Jerusalem before Passover and describes the scene as Jesus' followers filled His path with palm branches and leaves. Then the book presents a question for the child to ponder: "On the first Easter, people found ways to celebrate Jesus. Could you?" Combining biblical text with a beautiful story line and wonderfully charming, full-color illustrations, this book will help make Christ the focus of your celebrations this year.

This is a children's picture book edition of the best-selling adult book of the same title. Using illustrations and age-appropriate text, this children's edition features passages of scripture along with original text to tell the story of the birth of Jesus and provides ideas for family traditions that young children can understand to make the holiday more Christ-centered. Each spread uses one person from the nativity story to illustrate a theme and suggests one activity a child can do to remember the lesson learned from that character. For example, the story introduces Mary and talks about the search for an inn where she could stay with Joseph and give birth to her baby. The book then presents a question for the child to ponder--"How could you make room for the baby Jesus as part of your Christmas celebration this year?"--and an activity to do--"Place an empty stable somewhere in your home where you can see it every day until Christmas." Combining the biblical version told by Luke and Matthew with a beautiful story line and wonderfully charming, full-color illustrations, this book will help make Christ the focus of your celebrations this year.
