Edwin was a man with a troubled past. Growing up in Los Angeles wasn't all palm trees and beaches as most people think. Living in an impoverished area with a blind mother and absent father, Edwin became a statistic. While in solitary confinement, Edwin Johnson did not want his son to take the same path as he did. Yet he only had one way to reach a son he never knew. Score of love is memoirs of a father's life shared with his son. Edwin explains his decision making and mental health to his son and how he went from a man advocating for peace in Los Angeles between the Bloods and Crips to being involved in one of the largest drug rings in Florida. A true story told about the love, strength, weakness, and vulnerability it took to become a man. Ultimately confined to 102 years in a maximum security cell, Edwin had complete faith, followed by personal transformation. He was No longer "Killer Ed". He was a father reaching out to his son. These letters have the pungent nature of stories such as The "Autobiography of Malcolm X", Eldridge Cleaver's "Soul on Ice" or "Black Boy" by Richard Wright.
