This book is part of the series published by the Center of Diaspora and Relational Research. It covers the history of Chinese diaspora and development of Chinese diaspora congregations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its focus is on contextualizing diaspora missions and cross-cultural ministry training for Chinese diaspora in the SFBA, including ethnographic description of local cross-cultural ministries of two selected Chinese diaspora churches.

Relational Intercultural Communication for Relational Intercultural Education explores the intersection between communication and education from a Relational Interactive perspective. In this book we introduce: A communication cycle that looks at the interactions between the perceptions of hearer, the expressions of speaker, and the volition and thinking patterns of both. A developmental process that considers the role of relationship in bringing about transformative change. A practical theology that recognizes the active involvement of Triune God within human communication and education.

Orality has been embraced by many as an effective evangelistic strategy in the form of chronological Bible teaching and storytelling. Nevertheless, most churches, mission agencies, and institutions of theological education continue to neglect orality when it comes to discipleship and leadership training. The assumption is that to become mature in the faith and to "teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2), a transition to literacy is necessary. The contributors in this volume make the case that oral learners can be effectively discipled and trained for mature, advanced Christian leadership using entirely oral processes.

The unprecedented movement of people in the 21st century is a central theme in mission circles. With this movement comes suffering and pain for people who must adjust to the reality of living in a new environment, away from the homeland. The experience of people in diaspora is not uniform with communities able to adapt well while others experience discrimination and social exclusion. In Canada, diaspora communities officially termed Visible Minorities bear the brunt of marginalization. As God has revealed his redemptive purpose to the nations through migration and immigration, then it is also imperative for missiologist to consider the role of diaspora marginality within His plan for the nations. This book is a missiological study of diaspora marginality. It seeks to provide a framework for understanding marginality beyond the social dimension and anchor it on the nature of the Triune God and his mission.

Filipino diasporas are among the largest group of people scattered around the world. This book explores the practice of diaspora missions through intercultural campus ministry and the unique challenges first-generation Filipino missionaries experience as diasporas in the global north when engaging in global missions. These challenges include contexts (High and Low), time orientation, trust formation, and degree of interdependence (individualism and collectivism). Relational realism is the linking paradigm to understand our unparalleled leverage in employing intercultural campus ministry towards diaspora missions and becoming an intercultural church. This book is intended for three kinds of readership: a.) First-generation Filipino (or from the Majority World) missionaries and church planters ready to move their church from monocultural practices to an intercultural church.b.) Christians and leaders who want are curious of intercultural campus ministry praxis and how it will influence global missions, campus ministry, and church planting. (edited version)c.) Christian leaders (i.e., pastors and missions executives, etc., ) and trainers (i.e., faculty members of seminary and Bible school) who are interested in knowing the challenges of first-generation diaspora missionaries from the Majority World who will serve in the post-Christendom West.

This book is a sequel to an earlier publication by Enoch Wan & Jon Raibley, Transformational Change in Christian Ministry (2022) which provided the theoretical framework for this book. While the focus of the earlier work is on "transformational change" generally, this one is on "transformational growth" specifically dealing with the practice of leadership, discipleship, and mentorship within intercultural context.

The purpose of this book is to explore motivations for mission from a covenantal perspective within a relational framework in three steps: exploring the topic theologically, examining it theoretically, and deriving missiological implications. This book is a contribution to an underrepresented perspective to the missiological research on motives for mission. In contrast distinction to the popular programmatic approach of Western Christianity, the orientation of both global south and post-modernist is highly relational. Also, with the trend of the more relationally-minded and collectively-oriented "majority world" Church becoming more active in mission work, this book might prove helpful in stimulating deeper understanding of mission motives as well as stimulate more fervor for mission.

This book is a collection of papers on "orality," based on the research findings of a dozen contributors. The twelve chapters are organized into two parts. The first part focuses on the integration of "orality" with several disciplines such as hermeneutics, homiletics, the arts, etc. Part two is regional studies of Africa, South America, global south, etc. It is a collective reflection on "orality" in the context of 21st century historically, theoretically and pedagogically.

The illustration of the Universal Church as a body is prevalent throughout Scripture. It is most clearly demonstrated in 1 Corinthians 12 where Paul uses it to demonstrate the unity that believers should share amidst the diversity of their various gifts. However, the Church has not always demonstrated this principle well to a watching world. Today, while we speak often of partnership many of the Church's activities remain siloed in various institutional forms. Missions history also demonstrates that, like a dysfunctional body whose hands don't cooperate with the arms and the legs, these cultural forms have not always played well with one another. Partnerships that bring glory to our Triune God will be based on His relational nature. Partnerships begin not with MOU's or articulation agreements but rather the shared unity that believers have in the Body of Christ, the Universal Church. This essential unity allows for the diverse outworking of our gifts to prepare and raise up the next generation of missionaries. This book explores a relational approach to building partnerships through the Synergy process at Calvary University. Our prayer is that it will help pastors, educators, and mission agency leaders think Scripturally about how to build relational partnerships for mobilizing the next generation of missionaries.

By using existing ethnographic data on the Inuit, the authors in this book propose a relational, orality-based model for ministry leadership development that is "glocalized" to Inuit contexts. The book is intended for three kinds of readership: (1) Christian professionals who are working in the area of leadership development;(2) Christian leaders (e.g., pastors and missions executives, etc.) and trainers (e.g., faculty members of seminary & Bible school);(3) students of native culture and leadership study.

The phenomenal and explosive proliferation of social media over the last decade is strong evidence that modern human beings are in desperate need for genuine relational connection between God, self, and others. In a digital age that is more connected than ever before, loneliness, anxiety, and a sense of estrangement is found across the globe in the 21st century. Beyond being relationally disconnected, issues surrounding ethnic discrimination, phobias of every sort, and the human conscience that consistently bears witness that something is terribly wrong is all addressed by the Holy Trinity in the redemption wrought by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The purpose of this book is to showcase multiethnic ministry and diaspora missions in action at the Wu Chang Church of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The research for this book was conducted by John Kuo for his doctoral dissertation at Western Seminary under the supervision of Enoch Wan, the director. John Kuo has had multiethnic ministry experiences in the U. S. for more than a decade and is the first to introduce such paradigm to Taiwan. He is also the first known practitioner of multiethnic ministries to conduct a study on multiethnic ministry in a local church context in Taiwan.

In this book, a theology of Spirit-anointed witness in holistic Christian mission is articulated with an emphasis on "relational paradigm." The thesis is that the church be authorized, enlightened, enriched, equipped, and empowered to proclaim, practice, and demonstrate the power of God's Kingdom. Formulating a theology of mission is not a finished task, rather an ongoing one. The place and purpose of the Holy Spirit must be emphasized in it, recognizing the Spirit's initiatory and empowering role since Pentecost for Christian witness. This title is part of the series on "relational paradigm" published by CDRR (Center of Diaspora and Relational Research).

International student ministry (ISM) has a long history; however, the recently emerged diaspora missiology paradigm for ISM has seldom been employed. This book is an attempt to explore such an approach. In addition to this paradigmatic uniqueness, the choice of a relational perspective is a departure from the popular programmatic orientation of Christian mission and practice. This is not merely another book on ISM; rather its distinctive approach is integrative of two paradigms, i.e. diaspora missiological paradigm and relational paradigm.
