Men Without Women (1927) is the second collection of short stories written by American author Ernest Hemingway. The volume consists of 14 stories, 10 of which had been previously published in magazines. It was published in October 1927, with a first print-run of approximately 7600 copies at $2. The subject matter of the stories in the collection includes bullfighting, prizefighting, infidelity, divorce, and death. "The Killers", "Hills Like White Elephants", and "In Another Country" are considered to be among Hemingway's better works. Carlos Baker, Hemingway's first biographer, believes that while Anderson suggested Paris because "the monetary exchange rate" made it an inexpensive place to live, more importantly it was where "the most interesting people in the world" lived. In Paris, Hemingway met American writer and art collector Gertrude Stein, Irish novelist James Joyce, American poet Ezra Pound (who "could help a young writer up the rungs of a career") and other writers. The Hemingway of the early Paris years was a "tall, handsome, muscular, broad-shouldered, brown-eyed, rosy-cheeked, square-jawed, soft-voiced young man." He and Hadley lived in a small walk-up at 74 rue du Cardinal Lemoine in the Latin Quarter, and he worked in a rented room in a nearby building.
The early collection that contains some of Hemingway's most famous short stories, touching on many of his favorite subjects--bullfighting, prizefighting, infidelity, divorce, and death. Hemingway had already made a mark on the literary world with his earliest stories, and his second collection shows him solidifying his mastery of the form. Published in 1927, Men Without Women contains enduringly popular stories that have come to be pillars of his literary reputation, including "The Killers," "Hills Like White Elephants," and "In Another Country."

The quintessential novel of the Lost Generation, The Sun Also Rises (Fiesta) is one of Ernest Hemingway's masterpieces and a classic example of his spare but powerful writing style. A poignant look at the disillusionment and angst of the post-World War I generation, the novel introduces two of Hemingway's most unforgettable characters: Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashley. The story follows the flamboyant Brett and the hapless Jake as they journey from the wild nightlife of 1920s Paris to the brutal bullfighting rings of Spain with a motley group of expatriates. It is an age of moral bankruptcy, spiritual dissolution, unrealized love, and vanishing illusions. First published in 1926, the book The Sun Also Rises helped to establish Hemingway as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century.
"Fiesta" ("Fiesta. I voskhodit solntse") (1926) - odin iz samykh znamenitykh romanov Khemingueja, svoeobraznyj literaturnyj manifest "poterjannogo pokolenija" 20-kh godov XX veka." Pochti vse personazhi romany - druzja Khemingueja. Atmosfera poslevoennogo Parizha, znamenitye literaturnye kafe, suschestvujuschie po sej den, ispanskaja korrida, rybalka, vljublennost v zhenschinu i nevozmozhnost byt s nej, revnost, razocharovanija, popytka zabytsja alkogolem - vse eto opisano v svojstvennom Khemingueju "telegrafnom" stile, lakonichnom i sderzhannom. I tem ne menee chitatelej plenjaet i zavorazhivaet eta istorija." Veshnie vody" (1926) - rannee proizvedenie E. Khemingueja, napisannoe vo vremja ego prebyvanija v Parizhe. Istorija rasskazyvaet ob emigrantakh, zhivuschikh v Parizhe 1920-kh gg.: Dzhejke Barnse - veterane i zhurnaliste i Brett Eshli - anglichanke, svetskoj lvitse. A Farewell to Arms is a novel by American writer Ernest Hemingway, set during the Italian campaign of World War I. First published in 1929, it is a first-person account of an American, Frederic Henry, serving as a lieutenant ("tenente") in the ambulance corps of the Italian Army. The title is taken from a poem by the 16th-century English dramatist George Peele. The novel, set against the backdrop of World War I, describes a love affair between the expatriate Henry and an English nurse, Catherine Barkley. Its publication ensured Hemingway's place as a modern American writer of considerable stature. The book became his first best-seller, and has been called "the premier American war novel from that debacle World War I." The novel has been adapted a number of times, initially for the stage in 1930; as a film in 1932 and again in 1957, and as a three-part television miniseries in 1966. The 1996 film In Love and War, directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Chris O'Donnell and Sandra Bullock, depicts Hemingway's life in Italy as an ambulance driver in the events prior to his writing of A Farewell to Arms. The Sun Also Rises is a 1926 novel by American writer Ernest Hemingway, his first, that portrays American and British expatriates who travel from Paris to the Festival of San Ferm n in Pamplona to watch the running of the bulls and the bullfights. An early and enduring modernist novel, it received mixed reviews upon publication. However, Hemingway biographer Jeffrey Meyers writes that it is now "recognized as Hemingway's greatest work", and Hemingway scholar Linda Wagner-Martin calls it his most important novel. The novel was published in the United States in October 1926 by Scribner's. A year later, Jonathan Cape published the novel in London under the title Fiesta. It remains in print. The novel is a roman clef: the characters are based on real people in Hemingway's circle, and the action is based on real events, particularly Hemingway's life in Paris in the 1920s and a trip to Spain in 1925 for the Pamplona festival and fishing in the Pyrenees. Hemingway presents his notion that the "Lost Generation"-considered to have been decadent, dissolute, and irretrievably damaged by World War I-was in fact resilient and strong. Hemingway investigates the themes of love and death, the revivifying power of nature, and the concept of masculinity. His spare writing style, combined with his restrained use of description to convey characterizations and action, demonstrates his "Iceberg Theory" of writing. (wikipedia.org)

Capturing the essence of the Jazz Age, The Sun Also Rises is the defining novel of the 1920s and Ernest Hemingway's masterpiece. Jake Barnes is a young American veteran recovering from the Great War and working as a journalist in Paris. He soon falls in love with Lady Brett Ashley, a divorc e representing the sexual freedom of the Roaring 20s. But Jake is destined for a broken heart as his relationship with the promiscuous Brett develops. Based on Ernest Hemingway's life in Paris and his 1925 trip to Spain to watch the bullfighting, The Sun Also Rises encapsulates the cafe society of the Lost Generation writers. In the company of pioneering modernist authors, including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Hemingway rejected the idea that his generation was 'lost' and this volume proposes that they were resilient, strong, and equipped with artistic and sexual freedom. First published in 1926, Hemingway's debut novel is often considered his greatest masterpiece, and this volume is not to be missed by collectors of his work or fans of Jazz Age literature.
