Chronic pain, illness, and disability take so much away. Sometimes it seems as though they take everything we have ever loved and held dear. Our physical abilities and our jobs. Our current passions and future dreams. Our finances and our friends. Our sense of community and our ability to engage the world in ways we could before. Chronic pain takes away our sense of self and who we always thought ourselves to be. How in the world are we supposed to deal with this fact? In this book, I hope to teach you how to mourn your losses - everything that pain, illness, and disability has taken away. I hope to teach you what to do when life is empty and filled with grief. I hope to point you to the God who gives us Himself when nothing else in life makes sense.

For some people, unwanted thoughts are a nagging discomfort. Others experience them as a brutal and invisible form of torture. Are you distracted by racing or anxious thoughts? Distressed by intrusive or irrational thoughts? Struggling with sinful or untrue thoughts? You may feel trapped in your own head, but God has given you many different ways to calm your mind and live at peace. In this practical and sympathetic guidebook, biblical counselor Esther Smith lays out twelve powerful strategies for addressing unwanted thoughts. You will learn which thoughts to fight and take captive--and which thoughts to slow down, set aside, sit with, and more. As you get to know your thoughts, observing them rather than being swept away by them, you will learn how to bring them into God's presence in an intentional, life-giving way. A variety of simple and effective exercises in each chapter give you the tools you need to start changing your thoughts today.

Many of us live at a pace that is impossible to keep. Unrelenting busyness might feel necessary, but it can lead to chronic stress and burnout that hinders our love for God and others. Instead of adding more to our long to-do list, counselors Eliza Huie and Esther Smith guide readers in how to think biblically about their whole life. They give Christians a framework for biblical self-care that will help them live for Christ by stewarding the spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical aspects of life. The Whole Life: 52 Weeks of Biblical Self-Care outlines a balanced life of stewardship, offering practical strategies for Christians to grow in honoring God and caring for others. The authors focus on six key areas: faith, health, purpose, community, work, and rest. Each chapter addresses a specific topic and guides readers in thinking biblically about their whole life. Breaking down the misconceptions that self-care is not biblical, The Whole Life reveals that caring for yourself doesn't mean you are being selfish or lazy. Instead, it's a way of stewarding every part of your life for God's glory and the good of others. Contrary to what our culture might lead us to believe, exhaustion and burnout are not unavoidable pitfalls of a faithful Christian life. Instead, they are warning signs that we need to turn to God for daily help. This book will reorient readers to the core value of resting their heart, mind, and strength in Christ.

The purpose of this book is to help get kids to not only e at a wider variety of foods... but to understand why they need to, and how it will help them feel better and function in a healthier manner. Certainly most parents have heard their child scream that the food is "yucky," they want candy, "get this off my plate," or even suggest that they might die if you make them eat it. No More Picky Eater will help your child to see some of the foods that are healthy for our bodies, and become familiar with them and what they look like, even at a young age. It will cover which parts of the body that some foods specifically target, and assist in their healthy function; as well as what could happen to them if they ate only their "favorite food," even if it is a healthy choice. No More Pick Eater goes into some of the simple or beginning steps of Food Therapy. While Esther is not a food therapist she has been through Food Therapy and other specialized parent trainings, and has observed many of her children while they were working with food therapists. "These things were taught to me in Oregon by specialists," says Smith. "And as 'crazy' as some of them seemed to me... I followed their advice and it helped. It wasn't overnight, but through persistence, and trying their suggestions over and over (daily)... it finally worked and they began eating and getting over their food sensitivities, phobias and issues."
