This reference manual provides a list of approximately 300 technical terms and phrases common to environmental engineering which non-English speakers often find difficult to understand in English. The manual provides the terms and phrases in alphabetical order, followed by a concise English definition, then a translation of the term in Romanian and, finally, an interpretation or translation of the term or phrase in Romanian. Following the Romanian translations section, the columns are reversed and reordered alphabetically in Romanian with the English term and translation following the Romanian term or phrase. The objective is to provide a technical term reference manual for non-English speaking students and engineers who are familiar with Romanian, but uncomfortable with English and to provide a similar reference for English speaking students and engineers working in an area of the world where the Romanian language predominates.

This reference manual provides a list of approximately 4,400 unit conversion factors useful to Environmental Engineers (and probably others). It includes common conversions, such as feet to meters, miles to feet, and gallons to liters, but it also includes more obscure units that show up in old reports, old land surveys, and historic site records, such as chains and links (Gunter's and Ramden's), barns, perches, quintals, and ares. The book provides conversions for each unit to a variety of other units and back again with direct multiplier factors.

This volume provides a basic understanding of the time value of money and the ways to most effectively estimate the relative changes in the current value of proposed activities. Formulae and factors are provided to calculate the future value of dollars spent today, the present value of expected future income, and various ways to estimate the costs of future income and expenses. There is very little economic theory here, but following the rules and guidance provided will yield excellent results when deciding between long-term options with variable income and expenses. In addition, risk and uncertainty are addressed and ways are provided to calculate the impact of risk and uncertainty on economic decisions. A brief look at income statements and balance sheets is provided as an adjunct to the evaluation of economic data. The end of the volume contains dozens of interest tables to make the calculation of economic decisions far easier than with the complex equations, which are also provided.
