The Art of Personality contains Inayat Khan's teachings on the discovery and creation of personality as a development of individuality, and also on character building, which is described as the very substance of Sufism and leads to the rebirth of the soul. Hazrat Inayat Khan's classic 1912 work on Indian musical theory and practice. The Minqār-i Mūsīqār is prized as much for the quality of its content as for its distinguished author. This book communicates the musical learning and enthusiasms of the twenty-five-year-old Inayat Khan, whose personal drive, ambition to engage with the wider world, and longing for the divine are palpable throughout. In the Minqār-i Mūsīqār, we find a compilation of theory and practice current during Inayat Khan's time and taught in his family line. Its sections on theory are based on the teachings of the author's grandfather, Maula Bakhsh, and other late nineteenth-century sources. The songs at the center of the book are the author's compositions, and the poetry collection includes more than sixty choice Urdu and Persian ghazals. But, as valuable as it is for its musical content, the Minqār is equally fascinating in what it tells us about the writer and the times in which it was written.

This new volume of the Complete Works series gives all found lectures by Inayat Khan over the period January to May 1925. Fourteen of the talks (one in German) are published here for the first time including one question and answer session with invaluable advice on guiding mureeds. The other twenty talks are seen here for the first time unedited. The talks were given during Inayat Khan's tours of Switzerland, Italy, Germany, England and the Netherlands, as well as talks given in Paris. Most readers of Inayat Khan's work will be familiar with the three plays published by the International Headquarters of the Sufi Movement in 1939: "The Bogey Man", "the Living Dead" and "Una". This volume now brings together two previously unpublished works: "Omar Khayyam" and "Tansen"; a treatment for a play which he never completed, "Rama"; and "Ameen -- the Faithful Trustee" which has long been out of print. We trust that this volume will provide a rich source of material for all those interested in Inayat Khan's teachings.
