Aufgrund des bemerkenswerten Erfolgs von Zahnimplantaten besteht ein wachsendes Interesse an der Ermittlung von Faktoren, die mit dem Versagen von Implantaten in Verbindung stehen. Eine greifbare Anzahl von Implantaten l sst sich nicht integrieren oder berlebt keine langfristige Funktion. Komplikationen und der Verlust von Implantaten k nnen sowohl zeitlich als auch finanziell kostspielig sein. Der Verlust der Integration kann problematisch sein und zu einer zahnlosen Spanne f hren, die schwieriger zu restaurieren ist als vor der Implantation. Daher sollten Komplikationen und Misserfolge durch sorgf ltige Diagnose, Behandlungsplanung, gute chirurgische und prothetische Ausbildung und Erfahrung sowie durch Befolgung gut etablierter Protokolle, die einen hohen Erfolg und eine hohe Vorhersagbarkeit aufweisen, vermieden werden. Ein besseres Verst ndnis der mit Implantatversagen verbundenen Faktoren liefert Daten f r die Planung k nftiger Studien, erleichtert die klinische Entscheidungsfindung und kann den Implantaterfolg verbessern. Diese Dissertation soll einen detaillierten berblick ber die verschiedenen Misserfolge und Komplikationen im Zusammenhang mit der Behandlung von integrierten Osseo-Implantaten mit Knochenkappen geben.

Due to the remarkable success of dental implants, there is a growing interest in identifying factors associated with implant failure. A tangible number of implants do not integrate or do not survive for long term function. Complications and loss of implants can be costly, both in terms of time and financial resources. Loss of integration can be troublesome, resulting in an edentulous span more difficult to restore than prior to implant placement. Hence complications and failures should be avoided by careful attention to diagnosis, treatment planning, good surgical and prosthodontic training and experience and by following well established protocols that demonstrate high success and predictability. A better understanding of the factors associated with implant failure provide data for the planning of future studies, facilitate clinical decision making, and may enhance the implant success. This dissertation is indented to provide detailed review of the various failures and complications associated with the treatment of Osseo integrated end osseous implants.
