The Baron Trump Novels, and The Last President by Ingersoll Lockwood is a fascinating collection of speculative fiction that blends satire, political foresight, and fantastical adventure. Originally published in the late 19th century, this compilation includes Baron Trump's Marvelous Underground Journey, Travels and Adventures of Little Baron Trump, and 1900, or The Last President. In the Baron Trump tales, a precocious young aristocrat with a bold spirit and scientific curiosity embarks on surreal expeditions through hidden realms and bizarre cultures. These stories echo the whimsical tone of classic adventure literature but with an oddly prophetic flavor-especially when read today. The real curiosity, however, lies in The Last President, a political dystopian novella that eerily mirrors some modern events, sparking renewed interest in Lockwood's works. With themes of social upheaval, populist movements, and a mysterious outsider rising to power, it invites readers to question fate, history, and the line between fiction and reality. This volume is a must-read for lovers of obscure literature, historical oddities, and speculative fiction that challenges the boundaries of time.

Washington: A Heroic Drama of the Revolution, in five acts, by Ingersoll Lockwood, presents key moments of the American Revolution from the vantage point of General Washington and those close to him. It is a dramatic play, in the style of historical fiction. The stage is set at the beginning of the Revolution. Washington is fretting over the state of the nation as it was then. The play then moves to the lowest point of Washington's tenure as General, at Valley Forge. That dark period gives way to another problem Washington must deal with - the notorious traitor, Benedict Arnold. Through the dramatization of these key historical moments, Washington's persistent leadership and his emotional reactions towards events are imagined and conveyed: "Companions in aims 'Tis eight long years since Concord's plains first drank of patriot blood, and yet me thinks thro' all that time no deeper shadow ever hung about my soul than shrouds it now..." It is easy to recognize and empathize with the joys and pains of the trials and tribulations Washington faced while seeking independence and freedom for the United States. Anyone interested in American history will enjoy this dramatic examination of America's first president from before the days of his presidency.

From the author who told us about Baron Trump, comes another tale, this one lamenting the Democrat Party's "socialist" platform of 1896, and warning that the election of "Bryan" would be the last election for president, as the country would dissolve within a single four year term. Hence the title of the book "1900" or, "The Last President." But, just who is the "last president" according to Lockwood? Is it Bryan, or the man with a "a gleam of devilish joy" in his eyes? Might it be the Baron Trump (or is it, Barron Trump) of his previous books? Might the passage of time reveal all?
More than 100 years ago, Ingersoll Lockwood told the tale of young Baron Trump's quest to find a 'world within a world.' According to the 'biographical notice' at the beginning of the book, The "Little Baron Trump" or, is it the "Little Barron Trump"?] "was a real baron, and not a mere baron of the mind." Whether this is the truth or not, readers will enjoy this story of fantasy (and prophecy?) by the same author who wrote 1900 or The Last President in 1896 (ISBN: 978-1-64594-047-0). This is a facsimile of the original Baron Trump's Marvellous Underground Journey as published in 1893. Therefore, it has all of the idiosyncrasies of a very old book, and also, all of its charm. For those searching for the deepest meaning possible, you can't find a better source than an exact replica of one of the first copies printed.

This little booklet was penned at the end of the 19th century, and ostensibly involves events mere years later. A work of political satire, it chastises the rise of socialism and populism, inferring their fictional rise here as disastrous and leading to chaos. It is of note here that this work, along with others by Lockwood, appear to prognosticate the current political climate of the United States and West at large- and for an apparent religious Catholic of his era, it is not altogether impossible that Lockwood- wittingly or unwittingly- tapped into some mystic forces. Regardless, it is an interesting little political story from its time and is reflective of some of the social ideologies and movements of the age.

Pence" in seinem Kabinett.

Ingersoll Lockwood's patriotic and biographical stage drama takes place immediately before, during and amid the aftermath of the American War of Independence. The initial scenes take place in the household of George Washington. First through the words of his servants, we are introduced to the man who led the American rebellion against the British. Staking his prosperous life on the cause, Washington is shown to be a family man of noble spirit, immensely devoted to his proud mother and his doting wife, as well as the slaves who maintain his household. As the war commences, the harsh and bloody realities of skirmishes are matched with the resolve of Washington and his generals. In perhaps the most emotionally charged passages of the drama, Washington is informed of the betrayal of Benedict Arnold. Shocked, aghast, distraught and initially in denial at the treason of a friend he'd so trusted and admired, Washington steels his spirit to recognize the horrible truth.
