First published in 1904, "Out from the Heart" is a classic self-help book by British writer James Allen. Within it, Allen explores the power of the mind and its ability to drastically alter one's life and happiness for the better-or for worse. Contents include: "The Dignity of Self-reliance", "The Heart and the Life", "The Nature and Power of the Mind", "Formation of Habit", "Doing and Knowing", "First Steps in the Higher Life", "Mental Conditions and their Effects", "Exhortation", etc. Self-help books aim to help the reader with problems, offering them clear and effective guidance on how obstacles can be passed and solutions found, especially with regard to common issues and day-to-day life. Such books take their name from the 1859 best-selling "Self-Help" by Samuel Smiles, and are often also referred to as "self-improvement" books. James Allen (1864-1912) was a British writer most famous for his inspirational poetry and being an early leader of the self-help movement. "As a Man Thinketh" (1903), his best known work, has been a significant source of inspiration for many self-help authors. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with an Essay from Within You is the Power by Henry Thomas Hamblin.

The Wisdom of William H. Danforth, James Allen & Arnold Bennett: Including: I Dare You , As a Man Thinketh & How to Live on 24 Hours a Day I Dare You by William H. Danforth I agree that a businessman should stick to business. But a proven four-fold program, plus a love for Youth, plus an inner urge-all dare me to write this book. "I Dare You" is for the daring few who are headed somewhere. Those afraid to Dare might as well pass it up. It will weary the lazy because it calls for immediate action. It will bore the sophisticated, and amuse the skeptics. It will antagonize others. Some will not even know what it is all about. It will not be over-popular because it calls for courage, swift and daring. But in the eyes of you, one of the priceless few, I trust will come a renewal of purpose as you read on. You can be a bigger person than you are and I am going to prove it to you. I am indebted beyond measure to Gordon M. Philpott, who has been of inestimable help in the writing and editing of "I Dare You." His keen insight, his rare judgment and his frank criticisms have helped make this book a labor of love instead of a drab task. I honor him as a close associate in business, but most of all I cherish him as an understanding friend. As a Man Thinketh by James Allen This book (the result of meditation and experience) is not intended as an exhaustive treatise on the much written upon subject of the power of thought. It is suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that - "They themselves are makers of themselves" - by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage. That mind is the master weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance, and that, as they may have hitherto woven in ignorance and pain, they may now weave in enlightenment and happiness. & How to Live on 24 Hours a Day by Arnold Bennett This amazing book talks about some of the most important aspects of a full existence: the awareness of the passing of time and methods of utilizing it to one's unique advantage. It lays out a structure to a possible way of filling one's time, and points to the obstacles and dangers lying in this execution.
Transform your life by understanding how your thoughts shape your destiny As a Man Thinketh: The Motivational Classic presents James Allen's foundational 1903 text that reveals how our thoughts determine our character, circumstances, health, and achievements. This Capstone Classics edition includes a critical introduction by self-help scholar Tom Butler-Bowdon, placing Allen's timeless principles in context for contemporary readers seeking to take control of their minds. Allen's deceptively simple principle—that we are literally what we think—has changed millions of lives. Rather than viewing ourselves as victims of external circumstances, this classic book demonstrates how finances, health, social status, and success are external manifestations of our inner thoughts. Readers gain practical insight into seizing control of their minds to shape their own destinies. Readers will also find: A complete reproduction of Allen's original text, widely considered one of the greatest self-help books ever written Bonus inclusion of Allen’s book From Poverty To Power Expert commentary showing Allen's nineteenth-century insights to be a forerunner of contemporary concepts such as manifesting and positive visualization Clear explanations of how thought patterns directly influence character development, personal identity, and professional success Perfect for anyone interested in classic motivational ideas, philosophical non-fiction, or personal development, As a Man Thinketh offers readers an opportunity to understand the foundational principles that have inspired generations of readers seeking to create the lives they've always imagined.

A concise, powerful handbook for inner mastery—this deluxe edition gathers James Allen’s most influential works into one collectible volume, giving readers the mental tools to build character, purpose, and lasting success. This deluxe hardbound edition brings together three of James Allen’s most influential works—As a Man Thinketh, The Master of Destiny, and Eight Pillars of Prosperity—into a single, collectible volume. Allen’s core message is simple and enduring: thought shapes character, and character shapes destiny. Through clear, moral, and practical essays, these works teach readers how mental discipline, purposeful action, and ethical living produce real results. Compact, elegantly designed, and written in Allen’s crisp, timeless style, this collection is both a practical guide and an heirloom edition for anyone who wants to transform thinking into a life of purpose.

No ropes. No second chances. No guarantee of survival. On 27 May 1995, at just 22 years old, James Allen stood on the summit of Mount Everest's unforgiving North Side, widely regarded as the deadliest route in the world. Climbing unroped and alone, he battled freezing winds and the thin air of the death zone, becoming the youngest Westerner, and the youngest Australian, New Zealander, and Briton, to reach the top. That night, five climbers set out. Two turned back. Three reached the summit. Then came the descent, a brutal fight for survival. Above 8,000 metres, one climber collapsed, and James was thrust into a desperate bid to get them both down alive. Stranded for two nights without a sleeping bag, he battled exhaustion, frostbite, and the crushing grip of altitude, every step a gamble between life and death. Everest: The Descent is a raw, gripping account of triumph and survival at the very edge of human endurance. A true story of courage, risk, and resilience on the roof of the world.
