Jean-Nicolas Illouz

In reminiscing about the rue du Doyenne, Nerval takes part in the invention of "bohemian life," which was to become the defining feature of a generation, as well as a literary myth. He also composes an anthology of his own texts, forming a rhapsody of verse and prose that can be seen as a breakaway from the poetic subject.
