This volume explores the ways in which both theosophy and yoga base spiritual progress on the deepest possible understanding of the nature of life - that it exists as a single unity. This volume is part of a series of writings, collected under the banner 'Modern Theosophy' re-presenting important texts drawn from the history of the theosophical movement and complemented by texts from contemporary authors and innovative thinkers. Jenny Baker is the President of the Theosophical Society in England. She joined the society in 1981 after attending a yoga weekend. She was particularly struck by the first object of the Theosophical Society - the formation of a nucleus of the universal brotherhood of humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or colour. Annie Besant was a women's rights activist, supporter of Irish independence, socialist, author and International President of the Theosophical Society from 1907 until her death in 1933. Besant's many works include The Nature of Yoga reproduced in this volume (one of four lectures on the topic) and Theosophy and the Search for Happiness (1918) also available in the Modern Theosophy series. The Theosophical Society was founded in 1875 to explore the interconnectedness of all life, the universal wisdoms held in ancient religions and myths, and the potential latent in human beings.

Running has been many things to Jenny Baker - a space to achieve new things, a way to keep fit and healthy, and a source of friendship and community. She had planned a year of running to celebrate her birthday; instead Jenny was hit with a bombshell which rocked her life when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had one question for her oncologist: can I keep running? It gave her a sense of identity through her chemotherapy, while her treatment was stripping away everything that was important to her. Run For Your Life is the story of how she kept running to help her beat cancer, and how it helped her get her life back on track after an intensive spell of treatment and a turbulent time in her life.

God intended men and women to live and work together in partnership and in harmony. It may not feel so at times, but we are truly equal! This exhilarating book explores what that means in real terms. In the UK – where only a fifth of MPs are female; where women are paid less than men and one in four will experience violence from their partner; where men comprise the vast majority of the prison population and boys are underperforming at school – the biblical vision of women and men being truly equal is needed more than ever. Equality, Jenny Baker suggests, is intrinsically related to the desire to see people flourish. Jesus was not averse to challenging cultural stereotypes in his encounters with others. His model of liberating relationships can be a great encouragement to us, as we seek to find the generosity of spirit we need to enable those we love to thrive and, ultimately, to reflect more fully the image of God."
