Gospel Blaze in Borneo combines an illustrated traveller's tale about a 2023 journey of discovery to Ranau in Sabah, East Malaysia, with exciting mission stories, historical research and rare archival letters and photographs from the work of the Borneo Evangelical Mission, established by Australians in 1928. There are fascinating insights here into rugged missionary sacrifice in the wild interior of a new nation that was throwing off the protective cloak of colonialism and struggling for independence, identity and release from animism. In the early 1950s the writer's parents, called Sabin and Kumin, joined with a few others in pioneering first contact and church planting activity down the remote Labuk River and in and around Ranau. This small mountain town was at the end of the infamous Sandakan death marches, only five years before the post-war missionaries arrived. Jim Ward first grew up here and on this trip with his wife Ellen, discovered that over sixty strong churches have blazed into spectacular life. This indigenous church has spread throughout Sabah and Sarawak and is self-sufficient, biblically healthy and outreaches not only in Borneo but further afield as well. The seeds of the gospel were sown in soils of blood and despair, but the Holy Spirit has ensured their germination into a breath-taking harvest of love for Jesus, for which all praise and glory is given to our loving, creator God.

The most exasperating, important, difficult, thankless, yet fulfilling assignment in life is parenting. Coaching Kids is a guide to creating and maintaining harmonious communication with children when they are small that will last throughout their adult years when they are parents. Excellent parenting is not a substitute, but merely a launching pad for children to develop their own identity. The authors present to young parents, single parents, grandparents, teachers, and caregivers the importance of understanding who kids are and aren't-for everyone's good. With this understanding in mind, the book guides readers toward diplomatic dialogue and how to blend effectively several different personalities in a family setting.

Lando Poncho Vega, head of the Chiapas cartel, has a conundrum. As a member of the powerful twelve families of Mexico, he must quickly prove to the northern families that he can secure the southern borders from neighboring gangs attempting to take away market share and steal product. Mexico is booming and has become the top importer of American goods. In fact, the two countries are so joined at the hip; almost every highway connects on a map. Then three U. S. senators introduce a bill in Congress to annex Mexico, purchasing her with bonds. The Pentagon is invited in to round up the cartels and stabilize the region. MS 13 has quickly risen to the top, making both sides nervous. To counter the growth in gangs in Mexico and Guatemala, the Joint Chiefs choose a couple of washed out, crusty, embedded soldiers: Icy Barber and Blacky Bridges. Pissed off, Poncho Vega counters with two exotic cats from Texas to use as deterrents.
