Med værkintroduktion og didaktisering af Søren Nygaard Drejer Om værket Johannes Ewalds liv er omtumlet, og han lever sit liv i en omtumlet verden. I denne antologi møder vi et sansende, tænkende, følsomt og digtende menneske af kød og blod. Flere af teksterne er skrevet efter, at Ewald rammer bunden og ligger gigtplaget, fordrukken og ensom på det idylliske landsted Rungstedlund i Nordsjælland. Han udstiller sig selv, sine nederlag, sin ulykkelige forelskelse og sin forfængelighed - og alligevel møder han verden undrende, åben og tillidsfuld. I alle teksterne forsøger Ewald gennem skriften at forstå sit jeg i verden. Hvem er han? Hvordan er hans liv? Og hvordan kan en ungdomsforelskelse sætte så dybe spor, at man i slutningen af sit liv stadig vender tilbage til den? Om serien Det til dansk – Kanonværker introducerer værker af de forfattere og to genrer, der optræder i den ny kanon, Kanon 2025. Puljemidler kan anvendes til køb af bøgerne.
