How to Vote for an Idiot is the love child of the unholy alliance between business satire and political satire. The unholy alliance in focus here is government conscripting unelected corporations including media, pharmaceutical, and military contractors, to work in concert with unelected bureaucrats to do their dirty work for them so elected government officials can leave no fingerprints and claim their hands are clean. Pontius Pilate anyone? This book is an expose of how members of the political class are anything but idiots. They are clever, calculating, and seem to always outsmart us voters every time they cover their own backsides as they kick us in ours. Why do voters on the right and the left always walk out of the polling place with a "Kick Me" sign pinned to the seat of our pants? We now live in a season of unholy alliances. The question is what do you believe to be holy? Who do you believe to be holy? In short, what and who can you believe? Guiding principle number one: Who you are is how you vote. Guiding Principle number two: What you choose to believe is who you are. Guiding principle number three: Who you are and what and who you choose to believe can change depending on your level of self, national, global, and Godly awareness. That's the hope for America. We can learn and get better at self-governance, which we have for too long abdicated to the self-interests of government and the political class. The good Lord created this planet we live on, we mucked it up, and the Almighty wants us to clean our room, which doesn't mean shoving everything evil into a closet. Let's unite as one nation under God, roll up our sleeves, and get to work voters

Travelers, Tracks, and Tycoons: The Railroad in – From the Barriger Railroad Historical Collection of the St. Louis Mercantile Library Association

A richly illustrated look at the multifaceted history of American railways. It’s no exaggeration to say that, in the nineteenth century, railroads completely remade the United States: geographically, economically, and—through the advent of standardized time zones—temporally. Though today their domination on transport and freight shipping has been superseded by automobiles and aviation, the railroad remains a vital piece of the nation’s infrastructure and self-image. Drawing on the rich and diverse holdings of the John W. Barriger III National Railroad Library, the St. Louis Mercantile Library, and select railroad historical organizations, Travelers, Tracks, and Tycoons showcases the profound changes the US railroad industry has wrought on the land and its people since the 1820s. The vast array of artifacts collected here includes early railroad prospectuses and reports, promotional materials from the country’s first railroad projects, technical publications by engineers, ledgers from railroads like the New York Central, conductors’ logbooks, and dispatchers’ records. A wide assortment of plans, maps, and drawings presented alongside these materials helps illuminate the technological advancements brought about by the railroad industry, while posters, sheet music, and art show how trains quickly became an indelible part of the American social fabric. Published in conjunction with a 2022 Grolier Club exhibition, this book provides a multifaceted look at American railroads in all their locomotive glory.

It includes reading, writing, and mathematics interventions that can be used for core Tier 1 instruction, supplemental Tier 2 supports and intensive Tier 3 interventions. Throughout the book, its emphasis is on using assessment data to make important instructional decisions that meet learner needs.
Was it a typo when the CEO mandated that the organization "institutionalize incompetents"? If not, how did the company wind up institutionalizing incompetence instead? How to Work for an Idiot is still the confessions of a recovering Idiot Boss. After decades of writing and consulting, Dr. Hoover finally realized that many of the people he kept trying to "energize" and "enlighten" were, well, idiots. More importantly, he was an idiot for thinking he could change them. This new edition of How to Work for an Idiot is bigger and better--and filled with even more idiots--than before. The same technology that has enabled cluelessness from the corner office to go viral can help you protect yourself and keep your inner idiot in check. Yes, the book goes that deep. Not every boss is an idiot, and not every idiot is a boss. Let Dr. Hoover help you find the wisdom to know the difference.

Bullwinkle on Business is a delightful 10-lesson business course disguised as a humorous tale featuring the beloved TV characters Bullwinkle J. Moose, Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Boris Badenov and Natasha, and Peabody the dog and his boy Sherman. Sooner or later it was bound to happen. The world of business has now grown hungry for a fresh, new voice to speak out for organizational excellence in the free enterprise system. But where is a great leader who possesses the stature, the stamina, and the swagger to be called the consummate CEO? Who can grasp the helm of business in a shifting global economy and steady the ship? Who can capture the confidence of consumers and anxious business professionals on every continent and calm their anxiety with nerves of steel? Look no further than Frostbite Falls, Minnesota. Cast your eyes toward that imposing figure with antlers spread wide and a profile that protrudes into next week. Step aside Warren Bennis, Ken Blanchard, Jim Collins, Steven Covey, Spencer Johnson, Donald Trump, and even Jack Welch. Make way for that superb snout that belongs to none other than the magnificent moose himself, Bullwinkle. But how can a solitary moose, revered by millions, maintain his competitive edge amidst so much acclaim? How can he focus in the blinding spotlight of fame and fortune? How can he sustain a significant value proposition when he can't even spell the term? By teaming up with someone more talented, intelligent, and resourceful, of course. And so the saga of Bullwinkle J. Moose and his better angel, Rocket J. "Rocky" Squirrel begins. Bullwinkle and his better angel, Rocky, become the Chief Executive and Chief People Officers, respectively, of the Frostbite Falls Mitten Company. But Bullwinkle is soon seduced by the trappings of power and prestige. He begins to believe his own press clippings and forgets who makes the business run and who the business exists to serve. The antics of Bullwinkle's bungling and misguided management consultants, Boris and Natasha, only serve to auger the maladroit moose deeper into his own entropy. Former communist comrades--now turned capitalist colleagues--Fearless Leader (now Chief Evil Officer) sends his most notorious spies to steal Western business secrets. Mr. Peabody and his adroit pupil, Sherman, use the WayBac Machine to monitor lessons learned from leaders throughout history. The Beagle and his adopted boy draw concise correlations to how Rocky helps his much-headed friend learn that only enthusiastic people can energize an enterprise. By teaching Bullwinkle to unleash the collective wisdom, experience, and talent of his team members, Rocky transforms a moose with marginal managerial potential into a magnificent motivator. You won't want to miss a single episode of John Hoover's BULLWINKLE ON BUSINESS.

Praise for The Art of Constructive Confrontation "There's no magic formula for building a successful enterprise, large or small. If you're in the business of making a profit, you're in the business of building people. First you build your people. After that, your people produce the profit. The Art of Constructive Confrontation is an easy-to-follow, systematic process that makes sure you don't get those things backwards. Constructive confrontation is the closest thing you'll ever find to hold people accountable for what they do, while at the same time reducing the conflicts that get in the way of productivity and, ultimately, profits." --Spencer Hays, founder, The Tom James Company Executive Chairman, Southwestern/Great American, Inc. "The Art of Constructive Confrontation is a clear and concise road map to making the all-important conversations between team leaders and team members happen. More than that, the constructive confrontation process keeps those conversations happening, keeps them consistent and constructive, keeps everybody accountable, and unleashes the leadership potential in everyone." --Angelo Valenti, PhD, leader of The Company Psychologist and coauthor, Unleashing Leadership "Embracing constructive confrontation builds a strong, effective leader with a strong, effective team. This book covers the step-by-step process to make you that kind of leader." --Danny Cox, coauthor, Leadership When the Heat's On
