A loss of available water supply is one of the catastrophic risks of climate change that decisionmakers must confront. Cities around the world have already faced severe threats to their water supplies. In this report, the authors examine the experiences of five cities with severe or catastrophic water supply risks to identify steps that could be taken ahead of time to mitigate those risks and build urban water security.

The Red and the Real offers a new approach to longstanding philosophical puzzles about what colors are and how they fit into the natural world. Jonathan Cohen argues for a role-functionalist treatment of color--a view according to which colors are identical to certain functional roles involving perceptual effects on subjects. Cohen first argues (on broadly empirical grounds) for the more general relationalist view that colors are constituted in terms of relations between objects, perceivers, and viewing conditions. He responds to semantic, ontological, and phenomenological objections against this thesis, and argues that relationalism offers the best hope of respecting both empirical results and ordinary belief about color. He then defends the more specific role functionalist-account by contending that the latter is the most plausible form of color relationalism.

Philosophers and Scholars offers a map of possible research conceptions and methods for the study of Jewish philosophy. Jonathan Cohen brings together the views of three of the greatest scholar-thinkers in the area of Jewish philosophy of the twentieth century, including Harry Austryn Wolfson (1887–1974), Julius Guttmann (1880–1950), and Leo Strauss (1899–1973). Each thinker's construction of Jewish philosophy is presented through individual definitions of Judaism and philosophy, understandings of its historical development, and analyses of the canons used in interpretations of Jewish philosophical texts. Cohen approaches the history of Jewish philosophy from a personal and fervently held Jewish philosophical perspective. This rich and fascinating text imparts new perspectives and theses on the research orientations of Wolfson, Guttmann, and Strauss. Philosophers and Scholars will captivate those interested in religious studies and philosophy.

In this practical manual, the authors demonstrate the important relationship between social emotional and ethical education and school safety. They combine traditional crisis management and emergency planning with all of the principles that have become the cornerstones of the field of evidence-based, social emotional learning and character education. Featuring real-life examples and best practices, they cover widespread concerns, ranging from student behavioral issues such as bullying and social exclusion to gang-related violence and other tragic events. This essential resource will help schools be proactive in preventing tragedies, as well as effectively reactive when they occur.
Communication and Design with the Internet
The Internet is starting to have a profound effect on the building industry. It's not about computers: it's about communication. Fundamental changes in the way that architects, clients, and builders communicate with one another have already begun, yet few architects have discovered all the creative opportunities of this new medium. Jonathan Cohen has introduced thousands of design professionals to the potential of the Internet and the skills of Web site creation in seminars. Here he shows architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, and planners how to use the design skills they already possess to develop and implement an Internet strategy for their firms. Readers will learn how to integrate text, images, video, and other media in interactive Web sites for project management and design collaboration. A dedicated Web site will supplement the book with examples, bookmarks, technical data, and other resources.
