Los amantes de Teruel narra una historia ocurrida en dicha ciudad. En Teruel suenan campanas de boda mientras llega a la villa Diego de Marcilla que regresa rico y famoso tras tomar parte en m ltiples batallas en Espa a. Diego est enamorado desde ni o de Isabel de Segura. Pero ella es de una familia importante, y l es segundo hijo de otra m s modesta. Sin embargo, el padre de Isabel accede a darle cinco a os para enriquecerse, tras los cuales podr desposar a Isabel. Al llegar descubre que Isabel de Segura acaba de casarse. Le pide un beso pero ella se niega porque ahora pertenece a otro hombre. Diego no resiste la negativa y muere en el acto. Al d a siguiente, en los funerales, aparece Isabel de Segura. Se acerca a su amado para darle el beso que le neg en vida, y tras ello muere. La tradici n asegura que Los amantes de Teruel murieron de amor, por eso fueron enterrados juntos, y juntos han permanecido hasta hoy en esta obra de Juan Eugenio Hartzenbusch.
