Sebbene gli innesti ossei si siano dimostrati efficaci per il trattamento delle lesioni ossee parodontali. La ricostruzione sembra essere limitata a un riempimento osseo medio di circa 3-4 mm, indipendentemente dal materiale osseo utilizzato. Poich l'obiettivo finale della terapia parodontale quello di invertire il processo patologico e rigenerare completamente il parodonto, evidente la necessit di stimoli aggiuntivi per potenziare il processo rigenerativo. Ad eccezione dell'osso fresco autogeno, gli innesti ossei sostitutivi non forniscono osteogenesi o osteoinduzione, sono per lo pi osteoconduttivi ma riducono significativamente i parametri clinici rispetto al solo intervento di sbrigliamento del lembo. Dal punto di vista istologico, sono state segnalate differenze tra gli innesti ossei sostitutivi. La riduzione complessiva della profondit di sondaggio, l'aumento del livello di attacco e il grado di riempimento del difetto sono simili per tutti gli innesti di sostituzione ossea. Histologisch wurden Unterschiede zwischen den Knochenersatztransplantaten festgestellt. Die Verringerung der Sondierungstiefe, die Zunahme des Attachmentlevels und der Grad der Defektauff llung sind bei allen Knochenersatztransplantaten hnlich.
