The Master Key (1901) is a children’s novel by L. Frank Baum. Published the year after the first installment of his beloved Wizard of Oz series, The Master Key is one of few works by Baum set outside of the magical Land of Oz. This book is a testament to the heartfelt imagination of one of America’s finest authors in the genres of fantasy and children’s literature. “Here is a fairy tale founded upon the wonders of electricity and written for children of this generation. Yet when my readers shall have become men and women my story may not seem to their children like a fairy tale at all. Perhaps one, perhaps two—perhaps several of the Demon's devices will be, by that time, in popular use. Who knows?” Building on the excitement of an industrializing world, immersed in the wonders of science and magic alike, The Master Key is a story of a boy who dares to dream. Young Rob Joslyn is a skilled engineer whose experiments with electricity delight and astound his father. One day, a spark reveals a figure known as the Daemon of Electricity, who offers the boy three gifts for each of the next three weeks. Unsure of what he wants—Rob is, after all, used to building what his mind desires—the Daemon agrees to choose for him. As each week brings a series of otherworldly inventions, Rob’s life is changed forever. Highly original and eminently human, L. Frank Baum’s The Master Key is a story that continues to astound so long as there are readers who will cherish it. Long overshadowed by The Wizard of Oz, The Master Key is required reading for children and adults who refuse to let life lose its flavor of fantasy. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of L. Frank Baum’s The Master Key is a classic work of children’s literature reimagined for modern readers.

The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus (1902) is a children’s book by L. Frank Baum. Although less popular than his influential Wizard of Oz series—fourteen novels that inspired the classic 1939 film—The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus has been adapted as a graphic novel and into multiple animated films. A sequel short story, “A Kidnapped Santa Claus,” appeared in 1904. Discovered as a baby in the Forest of Burzee by Ak, the Master Woodsman of the World, Santa Claus is taken to be raised by Necile the Wood Nymph. After a peaceful childhood, Claus is introduced to human society. Horrified by the brutality and poverty of everyday life, Claus begins making toys in the Laughing Valley of Hohaho, eventually enlisting the help of the local Ryls in painting his elaborate carvings. As his toys gain in popularity, the evil Awgwas hatch a plan to steal them. Determined to bring joy to the children of the world, however, Claus never gives up on his plan to deliver his gifts. To help expand his operation, Claus employs two willing deer, who can help on only one night each year. Settling on Christmas Eve, they prepare for their very first journey. Filled with rich, detailed layers of fantasy from the mind of L. Frank Baum, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus is a unique take on a timeless story of love and generosity. Both include the songs "Over The Rainbow," "Munchkinland (Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead)," "If I Only Had A Brain/A Heart/The Nerve," "We're Off To See The Wizard (Follow The Yellow Brick Road)," "The Jitterbug," and "The Merry Old Land of Oz." The MUNY version also has "Evening Star." The RSC version also includes "Poppies (Optimistic Voices)" and "If I Were King Of The Forest." This RSC version is a more faithful adaptation of the film. A more technically complex production, it recreates the dialogue and structure of the MGM classic nearly scene for scene, though it is adapted for live stage performance. The RSC version's musical material also provides more work for the SATB chorus and small vocal ensembles. The MUNY Version is more theatrically conservative, employing its stage, actors, singers, dancers, and musicians in traditional ways. Using L. Frank Baum's book - and not the MGM film - as its inspiration, this version employs story and songs as elements of a classic stage musical, adding a bit more humor to the witch and her cronies. The MUNY version does not include Toto, but instead adds new characters, including: Farmhand Joe, Gloria of Oz, Lord Growlie, Tibia (the witch's skeletal assistant), two comical neighboring witches, and the Royal Army of Oz.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an American children's novel written by author L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow, originally published by the George M. Hill Company in May 1900. he predominant theme of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is self-sufficiency. The Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion all seek external magic to give them qualities they already possess but fail to recognize. Although the Wizard of Oz might be most famous today for the 1939 movie, starring Judy Garland, the book was originally written in the 1890s by author L. Frank Baum. And it turns out that the Wizard of Oz is full of hidden political symbolism, which sometimes seems barely hidden at all.
