Av måldokumentet för det statliga Rektorsprogrammet 2021–2027 framgår att programmet är en professionsorienterad befattningsutbildning. Denna antologi behandlar skilda aspekter av rektorers professionella arbete och boken är den första i sitt slag, som tar ett samlat grepp över kunskapsfältet rektorsprofessionalism i en svensk kontext. Boken vänder sig främst till programmets deltagare, det vill säga nyanställda rektorer samt biträdande rektorer verksamma inom skola och förskola. Andra väsentliga målgrupper är erfarna rektorer, skolchefer och skoladministratörer på statlig- och huvudmannanivå.

Magnus Larsson är 55 år gammal, pappa till tre söner, längdskidåkare, idrotts- och engelsklärare, kollega till många, vän till än fler och han lider av sjukdomen ALS. Magnus har bearbetat sin sjukdom genom att skriva ned sina tankar och betraktelser om livet och döden i sin blogg “Manges ALSter” – tankar och betraktelser av både existentiell och filosofisk karaktär såväl som av mer jordnära och vardagliga händelser och sammanhang. Förpassad till livets läktare har han skrivit sina texter på mobiltelefon med endast ena handens pekfinger. Magnus fick diagnosen ALS den 1 april 2011 och det var svårt att inte citera inledningsstrofen från T. S. Eliots diktverk “The Waste Land”, den om att “April is the cruellest month”.

Utvärdering, uppföljning och granskning i socialt arbete är numera en självklarhet. Men vad innebär det och hur går man tillväga? För att svara på frågorna har redaktörerna för Utvärdering, uppföljning, och granskning i socialt arbete samlat forskare som utifrån svenska förhållanden förmedlar grundläggande kunskaper inom området. De tar upp olika perspektiv, angreppssätt och metoder. De speglar områdets bredd och har ett problematiserade förhållningssätt för att på så vis tydliggöra olika ansatsers förtjänster och brister. Antologin är en omarbetad och utvidgad version av Utvärdering i socialt arbete: utgångspunkter, modeller och användning, som utkom 2011, och innehåller ett tjugotal kapitel ordnade i fyra delar:Del 1 presenterar centrala utgångspunkter och förutsättningar för utvärdering, uppföljning och granskning i socialt arbete. Del 2 tar upp både traditionella och nya utvärderingsmetoder, till exempel programteoretisk utvärdering och ett nytt sätt att göra samhällsekonomisk utvärdering. Del 3 berör bland annat systematisk uppföljning ur olika perspektiv (nationellt, regionalt, lokalt) och olika aktörsnivåer (individ- och gruppnivå). Del 4 behandlar bland annat granskningssamhället, dess aktörer och konsekvenser på olika nivåer samt en beskrivning av vad brukarrevision är och hur den kan genomföras. Den sista delen innehåller även en summerande diskussion, där författarna diskuterar för- och nackdelar med uppföljning, utvärdering och granskning. A decision in regards to marriage is not something one takes lightly, which means that ultimately it should not be considered from one's own per-spective. Not only is the choice of an object partner too essential to be left to what one happens to feel for someone walking down the street, the ideal of love cannot be actualized when centered on oneself. At what point has one fulfilled one's portion of responsibility and under what circumstances is one justified to end a relationship that was intended to be for eternity? An answer to such an important decision as to the feasibility of one's marriage needs to be sought beyond the fluctuating part of the mind susceptible to the circumstances. The image of the ideal is owned by the individual, and realized in the relationship with a partner, in that order. The centrality of truth as the standard upon which to actualize the ideals of love has to be more important than one's preferences and the marriage itself. When one lacks the desire of being in truth, one will find that one must be lacking in love as well. If a man is to perfect his love for woman, and vice versa, each party needs to transcend the limitations of their pre-held notions.

What gives some the strength to go through life having to face suffering, while others having all the means to live, find no meaning to live for? The strength of the mind and its ability to search for meaning rests upon its structure. The most important task remains, which is to bring the person out of ignorance about the part of the mind that is better equipped to detect and understand meaning. In a self-centered state of mind, one lacks the framework to distinguish between the inherent meaning in life and meaning experienced. As a result, the meaning of life is conditioned on favorable circumstances. A problem arises in circumstances of suffering when one's search for meaning does not yield meaning experienced, and one concludes that life has no meaning. The challenge is to provide the rational mind with a clear enough reason as to why it is not the primary source of understanding in one's search for meaning. The aim of this book is to provide correct knowledge for the mind to structure itself to search for meaning by narrowing the gap between the rational and subjective understanding of the natural consciousness, and the experiential and holistic understanding of the pure consciousness.
