Cet ouvrage tudie la perception des risques par les mara chers, leur connaissance des bonnes pratiques agricoles (BPA), les d terminants de leurs intentions et l'applicabilit de la th orie du comportement planifi (TCP) au Punjab, en Inde, et Nakuru, au Kenya. Les donn es recueillies aupr s de 200 cultivateurs s lectionn s au hasard, principalement des hommes poss dant des terres marginales, sont confront es divers risques, notamment des risques li s au march , aux institutions, aux conditions m t orologiques et la production. Nombre d'entre eux ne connaissaient pas les normes GAP et ont identifi les co ts de production, l'acc s au march , la formation et le soutien du gouvernement comme des facteurs d terminants pour l'adoption des GAP. L'intention comportementale d'adopter les BPA a t influenc e par l'attitude, les normes subjectives et le contr le comportemental per u, les risques per us ayant un impact significatif sur cette intention, en particulier au Pendjab. Le TPB s'av re tr s applicable, sugg rant la n cessit d'une formation, de partenariats public-priv (PPP) dans les services de vulgarisation, de primes de prix et d'un soutien gouvernemental pour encourager l'adoption des BPA.

Questo libro indaga sulla percezione del rischio dei coltivatori di ortaggi, sulla consapevolezza delle Buone Pratiche Agricole (GAP), sulle determinanti delle loro intenzioni e sull'applicabilit della Teoria del Comportamento Pianificato (TPB) nel Punjab, in India, e a Nakuru, in Kenya. I dati provenienti da 200 coltivatori selezionati a caso, prevalentemente maschi e con propriet terriere marginali, affrontano vari rischi, tra cui quelli di mercato, istituzionali, meteorologici e di produzione. Molti non erano a conoscenza degli standard GAP e hanno identificato i costi di produzione, l'accesso al mercato, la formazione e il supporto governativo come fattori determinanti per l'adozione delle GAP. L'intenzione comportamentale di adottare la GAP stata influenzata dall'atteggiamento, dalle norme soggettive e dal controllo comportamentale percepito, con i rischi percepiti che incidono significativamente su questa intenzione, in particolare nel Punjab. La TPB si dimostra altamente applicabile, suggerendo la necessit di formazione, partnership pubblico-privato (PPP) nei servizi di divulgazione, premi di prezzo e sostegno governativo per incoraggiare l'adozione della GAP.

Muitos n o tinham conhecimento das normas BPA e identificaram os custos de produ o, o acesso ao mercado, a forma o e o apoio governamental como factores determinantes para a ado o das BPA. A inten o comportamental de adotar as BPA foi influenciada pela atitude, pelas normas subjectivas e pelo controlo comportamental percebido, tendo os riscos percebidos um impacto significativo nesta inten o, em especial no Punjab. A TPB revela-se altamente aplic vel, sugerindo a necessidade de forma o, parcerias p blico-privadas (PPP) em servi os de extens o, pr mios de pre os e apoio governamental para incentivar a ado o das BPA.

This book investigates vegetable growers' risk perception, awareness of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), determinants of their intentions and the applicability of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in Punjab, India and Nakuru, Kenya. Data from 200 randomly selected growers, predominantly male with marginal landholdings, face various risks including market, institutional, weather and production risks. Many were unaware of GAP standards and identified production costs, market access, training and government support as key determinants for GAP adoption. Behavioral intention to adopt GAP was influenced by attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, with perceived risks significantly impacting this intention, particularly in Punjab. TPB proves highly applicable suggesting the need for training, Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in extension services, price premiums and government support to encourage GAP adoption.
