An unwillingness to forgive can destroy us, rob us of joy and peace, and it can dismantle our relationships. True forgiveness, by its nature, forces us to sign an unspoken contract about an offense that tried to alter our world. Sometimes we forgivers move forward in humility because it's our turn to ask someone we've offended to forgive us, to restore us to the relationship we both hoped for as our friendship, marriage, or work relationship began developing. We eventually feel good about a cleared conscience. And then there are the big ones, those "I-don't-think-I-could-ever-forgive" situations. Some contributors in this anthology struggled to forgive abusers and even killers. When they finally were able to do that, they were rewarded. Following most accounts, thoughts and questions are included to help a reader or discussion group personalize what was just read. A basic truth that anchored most contributors is that because we have been forgiven much, we can forgive. This is Margery Kisby Warder's second anthology. The first, Celebrating Christmas, had forty contributors who found writing about Christmas help fulfill more of their dreams about getting published. However, writing about forgiveness required authors to dig deeper because each account had to be lifted from a real life experience. Transitions have been included between the entries, and the readers may skip around to find situations particularly helpful to them. Suitable for private reading or group discussion, the contributors hope their experiences will help others deal with whatever tough situations they encounter.
"Celebrating Christmas" is chocked fuller than a hefty Christmas stocking It's a collection of submissions from 45 people who have strong feelings about Christmas and who wanted to pass along in stories, poems, thoughts, and more, what is packed into their understanding of Christmas. Is Christmas a time to rush and prepare surprises? There are a couple approaches from writers on that. Is is when a romance can get more serious? Hmm. Who would have thought so? Ah, a few factual and fanciful stories have that waiting for readers. Why, there are even Christmas morning recipes, Christmas Eve favorites, and a dessert that's won first place so many years in a row that the man who made it was told to fix something else the next year Writings appear from a couple gals who know Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a drama, so if you're on that committee, have a look. An author of over 3,000 children's stories wrote a couple stories the young will want to hear. There's even an essay that helps draw the line in the sand about fruitcake so decide which side you'll risk your palate upon. It's easy to say that Christmas is supposed to be filled with joy, and thankfully, for many it is most of their lives. For others, though, their situation changes, and there's even a quiet solemnity to Christmas. Our world has heartaches and almost all of us will face some during our lifetime; more than one writer wrote because Christmas can bring mixed emotions. Or perhaps it's that first Christmas away from home. If music speaks to your soul, or Biblical accounts of the first Christmas always interest you, these writers would agree that Christmas was God's idea before others even knew what was happening. Several wrote to be sure none of us forget how much God loves us, even to this day. After all, wasn't God proving that when Jesus came to earth that night in Bethlehem? Mostly, though, this Christmas collection comes to readers with prayers that something within it will be just the perfect submission for each one who receives the book.
