Geschwind developed a unique technology for creating reality animations . Using sound and light to create animations of real things in the physical space. The result is for example dancing brooms or popcorn appearing to pop. Just like in the classic artistic trompe l oeuil technique, the works are experienced as true, while you simultaneously understand that you re being tricked. Peter Geschwind (1966 2021) lived and worked in Stockholm where he had great influence on the field of art. In his artistry, Geschwind explored a variety of materials and techniques. He often reused everyday objects that he redefined and charged with new meanings. The usually low-tech, works have a D. I. Y. feel, playing with popular cultural references, in which humour as well as melancholy are present. Geschwind had a background in music sound, rhythm, and pulse are constantly present as an additional dimension in his artistry. Published in collaboration with Bonniers Konsthall in conjunction with the exhibition After Image . English and Swedish editions available.

Beloved as You Are is a gentle journey through pain, vulnerability, and healing. With poetic language and a therapeutic presence, the book weaves lifes dark spaces together with light, hope, and love for the self. Drawing on themes such as trauma, self criticism, bullying, eating disorders, and the bodys memories, the author explores what it means to meet oneself, not with demands, but with understanding. Each chapter carries both a story and an exercise, designed like a soft hand to hold. Throughout the book, a central message recurs, you do not need to be whole to be worthy of love. This is a book for anyone who has longed to breathe again, sought stillness amidst the struggle, and wished to find their way back to their own heart. With gentle clarity, it shows that healing is not about becoming someone else, but about remembering who you already are. This is a book about finding your way home to yourself. About daring to face the pain, the grief, and the cracks and discovering that they carry light. With quiet words, reflections, and exercises, it guides you through lifes darkness toward inner peace and self love. Here, there is room for tears and hope, for new beginnings, and for remembering. You are not broken. You are human. And where you once shattered, you can now shine, with gold in the cracks. You are not alone. You are beloved. You remain standing.

Matts Leiderstam s art and researched-based work is closely related to the history of painting. He is systematically looking for alternative, queer, narratives relating to viewing a painting. Leiderstam explores the grid as a tool for the composition of images, which was developed during the Italian Renaissance. The grid has been central to image-making ever since, including for photography, and not least for computer-generated images in a contemporary context where we are continuously connected to a global data network via our screens. The book is published with support from the Swedish Research Council and the Siri and Sven-Ivar Lind Fund, Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

Print: Narayana Press. About the exhibition: Björn Lövin -The Surrounding Reality Moderna Museet 2.4 – 18.9 2022 Stockholm With carefully chosen details, Björn Lövin (1937–2009) built up fictional worlds, like film sets, which the visitor could step into. In the exhibition “The Surrounding Reality”, three of Björn Lövin’s extensive environments have been reconstructed. Then, as now, visitors can enter the environments themselves and experience the art from up close. None of Björn Lövin’s original environments were preserved after being presented in their respective exhibitions in the 1970s and 1980s. The environments that you can see now in the exhibition are thus reconstructions interpreting and recreating a similar atmosphere as when the works were first shown. Extensive and winding research has been required to build up the environments. Based on photographs, films and archive documents, objects have been identified. These are the three environments that you will encounter in the exhibition: Consumer in Infinity and “Mr P’s hoard”, L’image and C – The struggle for reality. Curator: Matilda Olof-Ors About Björn Lövin Björn Lövin expanded traditional art genres and was one of the first Swedish artists in the late 1960s to make spatial installations, called environments at the time. He was born in Falun in 1937. In his youth Lövin studied in Barcelona, later attending Stockholm University and Uppsala University to study education, scientific theory and information technology. Despite his lack of formal artistic training, he had his first exhibition at Galleri Mejan in 1970, an early version of the more comprehensive exhibition Consumer in Infinity and “Mr P’s Hoard” – two environments by Björn Lövin that was presented at Moderna Museet the following year. His large scale works were critical to totalitarian systems, ranging from the People’s Home (Folkhemmet) to the consumption society, which includes some and excludes others and attract by offering an image of safety, but at the cost of individual freedom. His first solo show at Moderna Museet was curated by Pontus Hultén and later included solo shows at Centre Pompidou in Paris, Liljevalchs and Kulturhuset in Stockholm and at Malmö Konsthall amongst others.

In her work, Nazgol Ansarinia examines the systems and networks that underpin her daily life, such as everyday objects, routines, events, and experiences, and the relationship they form to a larger social context. This new monograph surveys the artist’s work of the last fifteen years in sculptures, installation, drawing, and video. The individual projects represent ways of understanding the role of architecture in delineating interior end exterior spaces and private and public spheres. Ansarinia’s works are largely observational and technical in their scope, offering insight into the issues that are most pressing and urgent for today’s cities and the populations that inhabit them. This fully illustrated publication features in-depth essays by Media Farzin, Hamed Khosravi, and Maria Lind.

Seven years in twenty-first century contemporary art, as seen in a series of columns by curator and writer Maria Lind. Seven Years offers a subjective chronicle of contemporary art during the second decade of the twenty-first century, seen through a series of columns by curator, writer, and educator Maria Lind. Writing for the print edition of ArtReview, Lind considers individual artworks and exhibitions and contributes to conversations and debates developing in the art world and beyond. She explores work by Haegue Yang, Hassan Khan, Uglycute, Tania Perez-Cordova, and Walid Raad, among others, and discusses such exhibitions as dOCUMENTA (13), the Sharjah Biennial 12, the 3rd Ural Industrial Biennial, and several editions of the Venice Biennale. Lind's writings are accompanied by other texts: artists Goldin+Senneby discuss Lind's materialist approach through the use of the word "hand" in the introduction to the volume; Sof a Hern ndez Chong Cuy reflects on how writing can affect curatorial work, and vice versa; artist Ahmet g t conducts an imagined interview with Lind; and Philippe Parreno weaves a summary of the years between 2010 and 2018, highlighting the notion of potentiality. A postscript by Lind's fellow curator Joanna Warsza compiles a glossary of the book's key ideas and terms. Carin Ellberg s flowing and hanging figures and objects are articulated in series and variations, where a certain laconic absurdism is formulated through highly personal expression. Ellberg has become known for her interest in everyday life, reflected in her use of domestic, simple materials such as coffee, stockings and clothes in sculptures and paintings. Since 1985 she has also been producing a parallel series of painted self-portraits in three-quarter profile. More recently her work has increasingly opened up to eternal questions such as materiality, the spiritual, and nature. This artist's book is the fruit of many years of work with her archive, from which the artist has chosen images that represent the breadth and depth of her oeuvre in over 200 colour illustrations with texts in both Swedish and English.

Part of the acclaimed 'Documents of Contemporary Art' series of anthologies . This anthology reconsiders crucial aspects of abstraction's resurgence in contemporary art, exploring three equally significant modes or strategies explored in current practice: formal abstraction, economic abstraction and social abstraction. In the 1960s movements as diverse as Latin American neo-concretism, op art and 'eccentric abstraction' disrupted the homogeneity, universality and rationality associated with abstraction, opening up new forms of engagement with the phenomenal world and the possibility of diverse readings of the same forms, ranging from formalist and transcendental to socio-economic and conceptual. A second discourse that emerges in the 1980s via the writing of Peter Halley, Fredric Jameson and others, engages with abstraction through the consideration of an increasingly abstracted world in terms of its economic, social and political conditions - all increasingly manifested through abstract codes or sites of style. Such economic abstraction is primarily addressed in art as a subject or theme, but in Deleuze and Guattari's notion of art as abstract machine possibilities emerge for art's role in the construction of a new kind of social reality. In more recent art a third strand emerges: a form of social abstraction centred on the strategy of withdrawal. Social abstraction implies stepping aside, a movement away from the mainstream, suggesting the possibilities for art to manoeuvre within self-organized, withdrawn initiatives in the field of cultural production. Artists surveyed include: Lee Bontecou, Louise Bourgeois, Amilcar de Castro, Paul Cézanne, Lygia Clark, Kajsa Dahlberg, Stephan Dillemuth, Marcel Duchamp, Gardar Eide Einarsson, Günther Förg, Liam Gillick, Ferreira Gullar, Jean Hélion, Eva Hesse, Jakob Jakobsen, Jasper Johns, Donald Judd, Wassily Kandinsky, Sol LeWitt, Piet Mondrian, Bruce Nauman, Hélio Oiticica, Blinky Palermo, Lygia Pape, Mai-Thu Perret, Jackson Pollock, Tobias Rehberger, Bridget Riley, Emily Roysden, Lucas Samaras, Julian Stanczak, Frank Stella, Hito Steyerl and Theo van Doesburg. Writers include Alfred H. Barr Jr., Ina Blom, Lynne Cooke, Anthony Davies, Judi Freeman, Peter Halley, Joe Houston, Fredric Jameson, Lucy R. Lippard, Sven Lütticken, Nina Möntmann, Gabriel Perez-Barreiro, Catherine Quéloz, Gerald Raunig, Irit Rogoff, Meyer Schapiro, Kirk Varnedoe and Stephan Zepke.
