On June 25th 1950, one of the biggest surprise attacks in history charged across the 38th Parallel in the almost unknown and far away land of Korea. Within days, the United States found itself in another conflict. One it was totally unprepared for having stood down the Army for the most part after World War II. What Army existed at the time, was poised to meet the threat of a Soviet invasion of Europe. The US had to respond and respond quickly if the Korean Peninsula was not to be overrun completely. The answer was to commit untrained, physically unfit, underequipped soldiers and Marines into the fight in a hasty defense and the results were horrific. Follow the actions of politicians, military leaders, and the ordinary soldier that made history. The people who held an overwhelming enemy force at bay providing time for reinforcements to be assembled, and offensive operations commenced. The events are real, as are the characters. Only conversations are fictitious.

... Ben Het has tanks in the wire "Hawk Claw is engaging," the pilot reports firing the first TOW missile ever from a helicopter in combat. Fire Base Delta had already been over run and Fire Base Charlie was fighting for its life. How much would fall before the North Vietnamese army was knocking on the doors of the key city of Kontum? This was the third phase of the North Vietnamese Easter Offensive Campaign of 1972. Standing across the country between them and the fall of Saigon was a poorly led South Vietnamese Army, brave South Vietnamese soldiers, and US Advisors. How much ground would be lost before they could stop the flow of men and tanks coming across the borders? This is their story as related to the author by those who were there. Follow Major Steinhauer as he withdraws with the fleeing South Vietnamese soldiers from the long-forgotten battlefields of Ben Het, Dak To and Pleng Klung. Ride with the crews that were the first to engage enemy forces with the aerial TOW weapon system in combat. Comprehend the bravery of the South Vietnamese soldier when properly led, and the defeated cowardice of the South Vietnamese senior officers. Examine how an American civilian was serving in the capacity of a two-star general commanding all the forces opposed to the North Vietnamese invasion in the Kontum region. Serve with the civilian volunteer nurses that remained in the besieged city of Kontum to care for the wounded during the battle. The events are all true, as are most of the characters who are still alive, who retold their tales of what it was like to be under siege for so many days against overwhelming odds. The courage, dedication, and loyalty of US advisors towards their South Vietnamese counterparts as well as the bravery of the South Vietnamese soldiers when properly led will astound you. The determination of Army Aviators to curtail the enemy and save the advisors is nothing short of miraculous. Get your copy of this sixth volume, Battle of Kontum, 1972 in the Undaunted Valor series.
"Get your affairs in order because we are about to go to war..." "We all go into Laos together and we all come out of Laos together" " I am on Fire and going down...tell my family I loved them..." (The above are actual quotes from pilots in the battle.) Undaunted Valor, Lam Son 719 is a novel based on an accurate account of the bravery and dedication of helicopter crews, consisting of mostly teen agers and young officers flying under the most intense combat conditions since WWII. US Army and Marine Corps helicopters flew South Vietnamese ground forces fifty miles into Laos to interdict the Ho Chi Minh Trail in hopes of providing time for the South Vietnamese to take over the fight and allow American forces to come home. Fly with the men of the 223rd, 14th and 101st Aviation Group as they press the attack at the cost of aircraft being blown out of the sky. Although Lam Son 719 was a military failure for its intended purpose, it was a victory for Army aviation and the employment of helicopters on the battlefield into the 21st Century. The lessons learned from this one action, set the stage for the development of todays Army Aviation. Follow Colonel Cory as he recounts some of the most intense helicopter and ground combat of the Vietnam war from the eyes of the man who spent two combat tours there. The accounts reveal the dedication helicopter crews had for each other and their desire for mission accomplishment. Awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross and two Air Medals for Valor, Colonel Jacksons' hair-raising accounts of what it was like to fly in this environment will make you feel as if you are right there with him. Learn how to transform, store, evolve, refactor, model, and create graph projections using the Python programming language Purchase of the print or Kindle book includes a free PDF eBook Key Features Transform relational data models into graph data model while learning key applications along the way Discover common challenges in graph modeling and analysis, and learn how to overcome them Practice real-world use cases of community detection, knowledge graph, and recommendation network Book DescriptionGraphs have become increasingly integral to powering the products and services we use in our daily lives, driving social media, online shopping recommendations, and even fraud detection. With this book, you’ll see how a good graph data model can help enhance efficiency and unlock hidden insights through complex network analysis. Graph Data Modeling in Python will guide you through designing, implementing, and harnessing a variety of graph data models using the popular open source Python libraries NetworkX and igraph. Following practical use cases and examples, you’ll find out how to design optimal graph models capable of supporting a wide range of queries and features. Moreover, you’ll seamlessly transition from traditional relational databases and tabular data to the dynamic world of graph data structures that allow powerful, path-based analyses. As well as learning how to manage a persistent graph database using Neo4j, you’ll also get to grips with adapting your network model to evolving data requirements. By the end of this book, you’ll be able to transform tabular data into powerful graph data models. In essence, you’ll build your knowledge from beginner to advanced-level practitioner in no time. What you will learn Design graph data models and master schema design best practices Work with the NetworkX and igraph frameworks in Python Store, query, ingest, and refactor graph data Store your graphs in memory with Neo4j Build and work with projections and put them into practice Refactor schemas and learn tactics for managing an evolved graph data model Who this book is forIf you are a data analyst or database developer interested in learning graph databases and how to curate and extract data from them, this is the book for you. It is also beneficial for data scientists and Python developers looking to get started with graph data modeling. The 1972 Easter Offensive was a four-prong attack into South Vietnam. An Loc astride Highway 13 from Cambodia to Saigon was a strategic target from the North Vietnamese Army. A handful of US Army Advisors were determined to deny this prize to the North Vietnamese Army that came at them in the form of three divisions. Rallying the South Vietnamese defenders, they would curtail all attempts to seize this strategically important town. The Battle of An Loc presents the actions of the battle in the sequence they occurred and credits those that fought there. The conversations are what would have been said under the circumstances. Air power provided by the US Air Force from 0-2 Forward Air Controller aircraft to B-52 bombers were the pivotal tool of the US to influence the battle. Advisors worked closely with the Forward Air Controllers, and attack helicopters to blunt the attacks while UH-1H aircraft provided the resupply, troop life and medivac so desperately needed. At times the situation was so critical that OH-6 scout helicopters were called upon to execute medivac missions. This is the story of determination, courage, and loyalty on the part of many, some out of professionalism, some out of necessity, to overcome a determined foe. Know the men that turned the tide of war, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. Read today.
