Thig of Ortha was the vanguard of the conquering "HORDE." He had blasted across trackless space to subdue a defenseless world--only to meet on Earth emotions that were more deadly than weapons. Basil Wells was an American writer. He wrote science fiction, fantasy western and detective stories for various magazines

Graed Garroway's empire on Earth was toppling, smashed by the flaming vengeance of Dirk Morris who struck from nowhere with blinding speed and true justice. Yet such a thing could not be--for Dirk Morris was dead, slain at the brutal command of the Black Dictator.

Nelson Slade Bond (1908-2006) had a remarkable career as a science fiction writer. He wrote extensively for books, radio, television and the stage, and especially the pulp magazines. Like Ray Bradbury, he did his journeyman work in the science fiction pulps before graduating to the higher-paying "slick" magazines like Bluebook. The quality of his work was such that Arkham House, Gnome Press, Prime Press, and Doubleday issued collections of his early short stories. At Wildside Press, we were fortunate enough to work with him in his twilight years, and we reprinted his "Lancelog Biggs, Spaceman" collection, as well as a solo work, "That Worlds May Live," and made him the Featured Author of an early issue of Adventure Tales magazine. This volume includes: TROUBLE ON TYCHO SHADRACH THE LORELEI DEATH BEYOND LIGHT CAPTAIN CHAOS COLOSSUS OF CHAOS DICTATOR OF TIME LIGHTER THAN YOU THINK REVOLT ON IO THE BALLAD OF VENUS NELL THE CASTAWAY THE ULTIMATE SALIENT THE BALLAD OF BLASTER BILL
