Our Journey to a God Centered Marriage- a love story Darlene and I met in October 1980 when we were Darlene and I met in October 1980 when we were both in the army. We were attracted to each other but for different reasons. By the end of the first week, we were becoming friends, soon, we knew our relationship had a very special and very different purpose. Darlene had a very strong spiritual relationship with God while my life had turned me relationship with God while my life had turned me bitter, suspicious, and angry, and I had turned my back on God. Our friends all told us the relationship would never last. But God had a different plan. We share the story of how God guided us through the challenges we faced and helped us grow spiritually to the point that God became the spiritually to the point that God became the permanent and loving third party in our marriage. I realized that the peace I was experiencing was from God. But what I had not yet realized was that the adversity I would continue to face was God's way of helping me to strengthen my spiritual self, which, I believe, is the main reason he put me on this earth. Furthermore, it became very clear to me as life went on, that achieving ultimate peace is a journey not a destination. Years of experience taught me that life does not allow peace to remain stagnant. Adversity will force it to grow stronger or be destroyed. For example, a couple deeply in love feels peace between them. However, life's everyday challenges attempt to erode that peace because the fear of those challenges weakens the relationship over time. In my experience only fear can destroy peace. I have learned that the only way that I can maintain and grow the peace that I felt that beautiful morning is to master the fears I face everyday. I now know that I have a choice. I will control fear or fear will control me. I will elaborate on this later. My purpose is twofold. First, I want to share with you how to overcome fear to achieve spiritual peace. Secondly, I want you to share it. I believe that once we have learned to achieve peace in our lives, we have a responsibility to pass it on to others. In so doing, one person at a time, we can bring peace to families, communities, and countries. I know that many people feel confused, frustrated and even angry about where they are in life. So, if you are experiencing any of these feelings, you may be wondering how you can overcome them and find peace. Let me share with you experiences from my journey, which may help you on your personal quest for peace.
